DELIVERY PLAN (C8)
OBJECTIVE: After reading the provided text I will be able to identify the main ideas and supporting details using a
Rigor graphic organizer

OPENING:
Retrieval I will have a chair with removable legs, and Lincoln logs. First ask the students if the chair could be used if
it had no legs? Get them to understand the legs support it. Then move to the Lincoln Log cabin. Can the
roof stay up on its own? It needs the building to support it. Just like a main idea needs supporting details.

TEACHER INPUT:
Relevance Print out of “Home is where the logs are” Lincoln logs, plickers cards, phone with app.

MODEL:
Routing Each students will get some Lincoln Logs with supporting details taped to them. They will have to figure out
what the main idea is, they will be given a roof that has the main idea taped on it so they can build a house. I will
model this by building my house with a main idea and supporting details to demonstrate.

GUIDED PRACTICE:
Retaining / Rehearsing
We will fill out a graphic organizer together as a class using the “log sort” to help

INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:
The students will answer multiple choice questions about the passage using Plickers

CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING:

Recognizing

ASSESSMENT:
I will use the Plickers questions as an assessment and take a it for a grade.

RESOURCES / MATERIALS:
Graphic organizer, Lincoln logs, pencil

CLOSURE:
