LESSON 1: MY PETS

Target Vocabulary : Animal, pet (cat, dog, rabbit, turtle, etc.), fur, feather, cute, small, big, etc.

Objectives : - Students will be able to mention name of animals

- Students will be able to use pronoun (I, my, his, her)

- Students will be able to describe their pets

-Students will be able to mention the characteristics of their pets

Materials : PowerPoint, card

Pre-lesson activity: (5 minutes)


1. Greeting and singing opening classroom password
2. Praying together
3. Checking the students’ attendance
4. Giving motivation to the students
5. Doing apperception about the last material

Main Activity
Activity I: Warm up (15 minutes)
1. Introducing the lesson
a. Telling the students that they are going to learn about their pets
b. Giving example about telling the description of pets
2. Spelling
Teacher shows the spelling of the vocabulary
3. Stimulating
The teacher and students sing a song about pets. (https://youtu.be/5J20-mRtDHk)

Activity II: Presentation (20 minutes)


Numbered Head Together (NHT)
a. Dividing students into groups. Every student in each group gets a different number.
Every number has a different picture (picture of pets)
b. Giving a task to each group (describing picture)
c. Every group discusses the answer of each picture
d. Calling one number, and the students that the number is called will present the answer
e. Listening to feedback from their classmate
f. Repeat step (d) and (e) for the other numbers
g. Concluding the lesson

Activity III: Presentation (10 minutes)


1. Singing with Action
The students listen and sing “This is my Pet” (https://youtu.be/1QF5lCvtiEw). The teacher uses
video to illustrate the action.
2. Mention the vocabulary use in the song
The students mention the name of pet and the characteristics

Activity V: Discussion (10 minutes)


1. Students play outside with sing caterpillar song
2. Students play “guess a voice”. The blindfolded student has to guess his/her friend’s name by
touching the other’s body parts.
