1. BACK GROUND
AAMBC has been providing quality education and training since its founding in 1996 E.C. since
then, the college grew from a single campus of few students and staff members, primarily from
Sidestkillo, expanded to a six-campus. In early 1997 E.C, Addis Ababa Medical College resumes
health education in Addis Ababa, Sidestkillo. The college began developing into a multi-campus
institution in early 1995s. It was begun by initiating programs with the regional states: Oroma
and Dire Dawa. Expansion continued with the opening of the AAMBC second campus in Addis
Ababa Misrak Campus in 1998 E.C. Today, the college consists of five independent compounds
in the capital city as well as in different regional districts covering Oromia and Dire Dawa. The
total students’ enrollment population has increased at an alarming rate compared to other similar
private Colleges. Projections for growth mirror the patterns of the recent past depicted strong
teaching and learning commitment.

AAMBC is uniquely positioned to meet the constantly changing needs of students in our
College, preparing students well to medical world of and providing opportunities for students to
obtain basic skills, take refresher courses, participate in non-credit courses, and earn certificates
and degrees. Within open-door admissions policy, the college strives to provide programs which
will enhance learning for all students. Throughout its nine-branches, AAMBC is the leading
private college of choice among College eligible students compared to other Medical Colleges
and Universities. Five of the branches are found in Metehara, Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa,
Hargessa (Somali Land), Sululta and Ziway by planning state wide targets.

AAMBC Batu (zIway) campus ( AAMBC) is the leading private college of choice among
college eligible students compared to other medical and business college and universities. Batu
(ziway) campus found in oromia region east shoa Batu/Ziway town.

2.Vision
The vision of AAMBC is to be a model in East Africa in training qualified health professionals
who play as important role in delivering quality health care service in the country through
upgrading the program up to MSC and PhD levels.

3.Mission
The mission of AAMBC is to produce competent of health & teaching who possess the desired
academic knowledge, efficient professional skill, commitment to moral principles and values;
Undertake socially relevant research and publish journal of scientific standard; Develop a strong
link and partnership with other public and private national and international colleges and
universities; Create and lead transparent and democratic institutional behavior that contribute to
the strengthening and maintenance of the principles and values of the country and; Serve as
center of apprenticeship and practicum to render service to surrounding community and other
colleges.

4. Goal
To undertake a planned and orderly institutional work in the endeavor to produce competent,
efficient and all-rounded health and Business professional in line with the human resource need
of the Nationwide.

6. Characteristics that shows the dimensions of college culture:


6.1. Risk tolerance - the degree to which employees are encouraged to be
aggressive, innovative, and risk-seeking

6.2. Integration - the degree to which units within the organization are encouraged
to operate in a coordinated manner.

6.3. Management support - the degree to which managers provide clear


communication, assistance, and support to their subordinates.

6.4. Reward system - the degree to which reward allocations (i.e. salary increases,
promotions, and scholarship) are based on employee performance criteria in
contrast to seniority,

6.5. Organizational plans are developed and implemented are very well and has
implementation been going as intended and the well planed college reported on
quarterly, semi annually and annually.

6.6. Managerial skills managers of the organization have technical skill.

6.7. College dean or managers used all managerial roles played well and the
college is controlled by middle level of managers.

7. Conclusion and suggestion for improvement of the college


7.1.If the college have financial managers its good for more productive and
easily satisfied customer
7.2. Control - the number of rules and regulations and the amount of direct
supervision that are used to oversee and control employee behavior
7.3. Individual initiative - the degree of responsibility freedom and
independence that individuals have.
7.4.If the college managers or Dean have human skills it is good for right
decision making, since human skill is used to equally important in technical
and conceptual skill
