INDIVIDUAL COMMUNITY SERVICE WORKSHEET

(ADVOCACY PAGE ACTIVITY)

1. RATIONALE:
Almost every barangay in our country has a Sari-sari store. In fact, in other places
stores are close to the other. It offers goods that are wrapped with plastic for preservation,
then when a person buys a big product or more than 2 products it will be placed in a
plastic bag again. Plastic is helpful; however, we are all aware that it is also harmful.
Plastic is one of the problems in climate change, especially since it is non-biodegradable.
It floats in rivers, blocks the drainages etc. causing some places to be prone to flooding.
That’s why we want it to be our advocacy Saving E.C.O. (Environment, Coin, Others).
We are all familiar with using Eco-bags in malls, especially the supermarkets. To
be eco-friendly they replace plastic bags with eco-bags or paper bags. However, this
practice is only applicable just to malls because they have protocols to follow. Outside of
it the use of plastic bags is still occurring. This is the reason why we want to advocate the
use of eco-bags, starting in barangays first. Most people in barangays know the sari-sari
store owner, and the sari-sari store owner knows its customer. Although not everyone.
The main activity of our advocacy/project is that customers will provide their own eco-
bags that they will just bring to the sari-sari store to carry the things that they would buy.
Saving E.C.O, stands for: Saving Earth, Coins, and others in this way. For Earth
as it was mentioned above lessening the use of plastic can help with our issue which was
climate change. Coins can be saved with this advocacy since the owner of the sari-sari
store does not need to buy plastic because it will be replaced with eco-bags. The
advocacy can save Others and that other pertains to relationships between customer and
seller, development of our country, and individual health.

2. OBJECTIVES:

a. To save our planet Earth by lessening the use of plastic bags.


b. To save coins that was spent from buying plastic bags.
c. To save others: relationship with customer and seller, develop a clean country, and individual
health.

a. PAGE CREATION
The page was created on February 22nd. When we created the page, we gathered a variety of
ideas. Saving Eco promotes the use of Eco Bags and the avoidance of Plastic Waste.

We decided to hold a vote in which each member would create a photo for the cover. Then we'll
vote on which cover photo should be used and posted.

c. PROFILE PHOTO
We decided to hold a vote in which each member would create a photo for the Profile photo.
Then we'll vote on which profile photo should be used and posted.

I shared this post on March 20 and received some engagements, promoting eco bags and the
reuse of recyclable materials. To avoid having too much waste and garbage.

Krisha posted this post last March 9, posting the awareness of the effects of burning plastic waste. It
destroys the nature and worsen the situation of the Climate change. It reached 408 people.
Hans posted it on March 5, and it reached 1,599 people, indicating that this post attracted a large number
of viewers, with the majority of them noticing the promotion and encouraging them to be a part of this
advocacy.
Hans posted it and got 511 people reached, it promotes on conservation our nature for our future.

A pleasant and wonderful day. We would like to invite you to support, like and follow our
advocacy and Facebook page “Saving E.C.O.” This advocacy means Saving Earth, Coins,
and Others. Promoting the use of Eco-bags in Sari-sari stores in your barangay, instead
of using plastic bags that is harmful to the environment. The main goal of the advocacy
was to encourage everyone to just bring an eco-bag when buying to sari-sari stores to
lessen the use of plastic bags. Through that response of yours you’ll be able to help our
planet to heal from climate change.
