Engr. Ali Asghar (Assistant Professor DBME) and co-author Sobhan Shakil has
published an article in HEC recognized 1.67 impact factor journal, Journal of
Engineering in Medicine under supervision of Prof. Dr. Fahad Azim and Dr. Saad
Jawaid Khan.

Department
On 19th October, Department of Biomedical Engineering officially launched their new Instagram account
to reach out to more people and keep their followers up to date of departmental activities.

Open Class System: A Hackathon Project

Students of Biotechnology Program 3rd year, 6th semester, Riwaz,

Maham and Marium participated in Hackathon organized by ORIC
and got selected among top 20 finalists. Their topic for selection
was Open Class System.
 Inauguration of IEEE Student Branch at ZUFESTM

Ziauddin University is proud to announce the establishment of their IEEE student branch! The
inauguration was held during IEEE day 2021 celebrations past Friday, held at ZUFESTM, the ceremony
was attended by Heads of IEEE Karachi Section and Branch counselors and Chairs of various Universities.
 Project Activity of Biotechnology Students

On 4th and 8th October, project activity of 1st year, 2nd semester biotechnology students for the course
of Physics, was conducted by course in-charge Dr. Faraz Jawed. The object was to demonstrate the
various physical phenomenon through hardware projects. Dr. Saad Jawed Khan was present as a guest
assessor.
 Workshop on Small Business Startup by SMEDA
On 21st October, A workshop on small business startup was organized at link road campus by SMEDA.
Ms. Nadia Riaz was the trainer who conducted the workshop. This workshop covered what potential
entrepreneurs need to do before ever opening the doors for business. The aim of this workshop was to
will help entrepreneurs to prepare to become credit ready (Types of Financing and how to borrow).
 Beach Party Organized by Student Council
On 26th October, Student Council ZUFESTM arranged beach party for students and faculty at Turtle
Beach. Students and staff left early morning and reached at the beach where breakfast was arranged
for them. Apart from breakfast and lunch different activities like camel ride and boat rides were also
organized.
 Farewell Batch 09: Graduation Week
Final year students of Batch-09 organized fun week to celebrate the last week of their graduation before
exams. Students planned three activities for the week. It started with breakfast for faculty on 25th
October, Monday. Second was movie and games day scheduled on Wednesday 27th October. Lastly, a
farewell party was given to faculty of biomedical engineering which was attended by honorable Dean,
Dr. Fahad Azim and Chairperson DBME, Dr. Saad Jawed Khan.

I open my eyes but all I see is Black

Blinding lack of bright color
I Try to open my eyes but all I see is the darkness of the world
I want to see the blue blue sky
I want to see the pink of love
The red of passion
The green of jealousy
The smile of friendship
The selfless act of kindness
I want to see the beauty around my dark soul
The cure to COVID and all the diseases that plague the dying world
I want to see the reason why their eyes light up their faces
when mine rain all over my cheeks
I want to believe in the stories told in books
Where the last seven words go
"And they all lived happily ever after......"
I want to see the simple eye contact of attraction
I want to see the reason why people grin at the world
I want to see the colors of the rainbows but....
I'm blind to all the good things in life
I'm blind to all that matters in life
I am blind to love
Blind to hate
Blind to all the feelings because
I am blind to the sun, blind to the night as they blend together in a grey canvas of hope and despair,
Of black and white
Of presence and absence
Of the reasons why the world is round
And why we have no such thing as peace
I am blind to the kindness and the hatred
I am blind to the great big world
As I live in my own universe
I am a simple galaxy
