TOOLS and GAUGES

In this unit, we will discuss things related to TOOLS and GAUGES.
Example of tool that you can find in a workshop is “Hammer”

It has two main parts, head and handle.

The function of the head is drive something in, for example to drive a nail in the wood.
The function of the handle is to provide an area to hold.

1. What do you know about mechanical tools?

a. Give your definition:
b. Give the examples (5):
c. Describe the parts that each tool has:
d. Describe the function of each tool you have given as the example.

Answer :
Mechanical tool is a simple device that works with force or mechanical means for facilitating
or human labor.
1. The tang serves as a tool for holding, loosening, twisting, pulling or cutting work.
The tang has some parts like the bolt, the tweezers and the handle to hold the
pliers
2. A screwdriver is an instrument used to tighten or release a variety of screws. The
screwdriver has several points like the head of a screwdriver that are marked plus
and minus, the insulator and handle
3. Miser, which is a mechanical device that works in erasing objects to be smooth, flat
and balanced. It belongs to rectangular, triangular, plate miser, knife miser, round miser
and half-round miser.
4. The hammer, which was used to strike an object into good use, such as a nail. A
particular type of hammer has an extra shape so that it can serve as if it were to crack or
pull a nail.
5. The wrench has the function of opening or fastening the bolt on a machine or other
object of labor. On each end of the wrench has a different diameter in order to open and
lock a bolt that has the same diameter as the wrench.

2. What do you know about gauges?

a. Give your definition
e. Give the examples (5)
f. Describe the parts that each tool has:
b. Describe the function of each tool you have given as the example

Answer :

The gauge is the gauge that the mechanics use to measure and measure and limit the
tolerance of a component or working object.
1. The seighmat as a gauge of length, diameter, and depth of the work. The seighmat has a
basic scale and a nonius scale to be able to read the size of the work items and their
tolerances.
2. A micrometer screw is no different than a seighmat, a micrometer is also used
to measure the length of an object or the thickness of an object
3. An ameter is a measuring instrument used to measure the force of an electric
current. 4.Thermometer is a measure used to measure temperature.
5. A stopwatch was used to measure the time involved in the formation of an object
