15
SDJ International College
Navin Fluorine International Ltd.

defines as "part of quality management focused on providing confidence that quality

requirements will be fulfilled". This defect prevention in quality assurance differs subtly
from defect detection and rejection in quality control, and has been referred to as a shift left
as it focuses on quality earlier in the process.

The terms "quality assurance" and "quality control" are often used interchangeably to refer
to ways of ensuring the quality of a service or product. For instance, the term "assurance" is
often used as follows: Implementation of inspection and structured testing as a measure of
quality assurance in a television set software project at Philips Semiconductors is described.
The term “control”, however, is used to describe the fifth phase of the DMAIC model.
DMAIC is a data-driven quality strategy used to improve processes

2.4 PRODUCTION SYSTEM

26
SDJ International College
Navin Fluorine International Ltd.

Production on planning:
 NFIL does the planning for which gas has to be produced by using which chemical,
when to produced, how to produce and whom to serve the produced gas.
 All the points have to be kept in mind at the time of planning for the success.
Problems of raw material:
 It has to manage the raw materials for the gas and regular supply of all the raw
materials has to be done.
 Problems of shortage or over supply of raw materials have to be taken care of.
Maintaining quality:
 Quality of the gases should be high and less harmful to the consumer.
 As gases are harmful it should be preserved well.
Problems of staff:
 There can be many problems of staff members related to their internal relations
among employees, relations with supervisors or any other problems has to be taken
care by the company.
 Problems of the each and every staff member have to be managed by the company to
keep the employees in the company for long period.
Production method:
 For, NFIL has to look after the method properly of production of gas as it is risky
product so it may harm the employees.
 Proper method has to be selected for the production of the gases.
Environmental factors:

27
SDJ International College
Navin Fluorine International Ltd.

 Internal factors- factors like financial problems, location, employee’s relation,

sources of income, facility, equipment.
 External factors- flood, drought, tsunami, technological change, political
enviroument, economical change.
Testing:
 Chemicals are to be tested properly.
 It is important that an accurate gas analysis is conducted for safety precautions more.
Packing:
 Packaging has to be done for the longer life span of gas.
 Packaging should be done like that gas should not leaked.

2.5 Plant Location

NFIL selects the plant location on the basis of space available at a lower rate, transportation
facility, government policy, availability of raw material from the supplier, service to
customer, labour availability, banking, post, availability of electricity and water etc.

2.5.1 Material Handling System

Provision for material handling:
Within production department, they normally use elevators to pick up or to put down the
raw materials and machines. They also use other material handling equipment like lift, bins,
trolley etc. they have also facility to store the material handling equipment.
Material handling equipment:
Material handling means control on movement of material through storage and production
and to the movement of the finished production. Material handling is concerned with the
internal movement and material within a business unit.

28
SDJ International College
Navin Fluorine International Ltd.

2.5.2 Planning
In simple term, production planning means decide the sequence of each activity to carry out
finish product or item. Production plan is the heart of the organisation. Production planning
is the plan of future production, which is prepared by production manager with the help of
the sales plan of the organisation.
Production planning is the primary step of any organisation. So that it is most important for
any organisation. It is very useful for the control of the organisation’s activities.
In NFIL, the production plan is prepared based on sales plan. The process of NFIL is as
given below.
The company requires specification about the production from the customer. This step is
performing when the order placed by the customer and afterwards production schedule is to
be prepared.
The staffs of the sales department prepare sales monitor report for the purpose of giving the
best services in the term of delivery dates specified by the customer. So they easily
produced as per customer requirements. One copy of this report is send to the production
department so sales planning are not done on the basis of the production planning rather
than production plan based on sales plan.
The customer specification included type of the product lot size, delivery date, and material
to be used for the products, quality required, etc. On the basis of this specification
production plan is prepared.
It is deciding in advance the short term as well as long term conversation if raw material and
other inputs into finished product to be utilized as inputs for further production by
enhancing the utility of the inputs. So that, they satisfies customers needs on time.
Production plan is converted in MRP:
The whole process of material requirement planning is indirectly depending upon the
customer orders. Because when the customer gives order than they also specifies the
material to be used as per customer specification raw material is used.
The prime objective of material requirement planning is to be trigger timely purchase action
of various dependent demand items. Which raw material is required urgently and providing
conveys which can be delayed required details of MRP to purchase department. If helps
maintain priority control.
In NFIL use material requirement planning as manufacturing resource planning. The
planning is divided into two parts:
1. Manufacturing resource planning-1
2. Manufacturing resource planning-2
MRP-1 includes man, machine and material. Where as in MRP-2 apart from it money and
marketing are also included. MRP-2 provides greater control over inventory of system is
used properly. As in MRP-1 name applies plan only the requirement. This system takes care

29
SDJ International College
Navin Fluorine International Ltd.

of whole organisation in place of single unit. MRP-2 is associated with single unit of an
organisation. MRP-2 is the expansion of MRP-1.

2.6 R&D Technology

Navin fluorine scientists have rich experience in developing process that is both innovative
and cost effective. Our expertise in handling HF (hydrofluoric acid) has no parallel in India.
Our fluorination capabilities include catalytic, non-catalytic, gas phase and liquid phase
fluorination using HF and other specialized fluorination reaction like balz-schlimann, and
swatters action.

6.1 Introduction

Purchasing is the formal process of buying goods and services. The purchasing process can
vary from one organization to another, but there are some common key elements.
The process usually starts with a demand or requirements – this could be for a physical part
or a services. A requisition is generated, which details the requirements (in some cases
providing a requirements specification) which actions the procurement department. A
request for proposal (RFP) or request for quotation (RFQ) is then raised. Suppliers send
their quotations in response to the RFQ, and a review is undertaken where the best offer is
given the purchase order.
Purchase Order (PO) can be of various types, including:
 standard - a onetime buy
 planned - an agreement on a specific item at an approximate date

7.1.2 5s:
 5s is the name of a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese
words seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke. Transliterated into roman script,
they all start with the letter “S”. The list describes how to organize work space for
efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the items used, maintaining
the area and items, and sustaining the new order. The decision making process
usually comes from a dialogue about standardization, which builds understanding
among employees of how they should do the work.
The 5s:
1. Sort
 Remove unnecessary items and dispose of them properly.
 Make work easier by eliminating obstacles.
 Reduce chances of being disturbed with unnecessary items.
 Remove all parts or tools that are not in use.
 Segregate unwanted material from the workplace

67

7.2 The importance of signs for health and safety:

 Signs are everywhere, and play an important role not only when it comes to health
and safety, but also in everyday life. A person will see so many signs during a
course of a day such as driving to work or walking through the street that they are
likely not to realize just how prevalent and numerous they are. These signs can vary
in intent: those that inform those that warn of potential danger or hazards, signs that
provide directions etc.
7.2.1 Signs as warning:

68
SDJ International College
Navin Fluorine International Ltd.

 As far as health and safety is concerned, the majority of signs will be those that warn
of danger. They are designed to be highly visible so that they do not go unnoticed
and so provide the intended warnings which may be the difference between a person
or persons having a serious accident or not. In this way they can literally be the
difference between the life and death.
7.2.2 Signs can provide instructions, directions and guidance:
 As well as providing warnings, signs can also give instructions and directions which
need to be followed in the event of an emergency. Typical examples include
emergency exit signs which easily show people where to exit the building in the
event of an incident such as a fire.
7.2.3 Visual signs:
 Emergency exit signs are also a good example of the importance of visual signs.
Whilst some signs are made up of words which can provide useful instructions,
many signs are designed to convey their message with a picture so that they can be
understood by people regardless of what language they speak. A picture sign can
also be more easily understood in the event of an emergency and allow for quicker
evacuation than if a person had to stop and read the words on it.

professional company. The company holds a strong vision, mission and commitment
towards future growth.

 The rare ability of the firm to take up a project at any stage of its development and
seeing it through to its conclusion immaculately has been largely possible because of
