A masterpiece called Mona Lisa is painted
by a very talented painter during the time of
Renaissance—Leonardo da Vinci. Mona
Lisa is made through oil paints on a poplar
wood panel, it has measures of 30 cm in tall
and 20 cm in wide. Leonardo da Vinci began
painting it on 1503 and it was in his studio
when he died in 1519, and worked on it
several years, adding more layers. Now, this
painting is the most famous painting in the
world. Mona Lisa portraits an ordinary
woman, dressing modestly in a veil, dark
robes and no sign of jewelry. Her mysterious
gaze and her small smile that make a fuss
and with the fact that it was done in three-
quarter pose that makes the painting more
popular.

Leonardo da Vinci the painter of the Mona Lisa is very gifted for making the painting more realistic.
Leonardo's skillful handling of sfumato, an artistic technique that uses subtle gradations of light
and shadow to model form, and his understanding of the skull beneath the skin are evident in the
subject's softly sculptural face. Leonardo's studied observations and inexhaustible patience are
evident in the delicately painted veil, finely wrought tresses, and careful rendering of folded fabric.
Mona Lisa portrait of the wife of a merchant, that’s why her very deep gaze is only meant for her
husband.
I personally love the painting because of those characteristics. It also shows loyalty and beauty.
The story behind of the mysterious gaze of Mona Lisa is very heart whelming because it shows
that love and marriage is very important because her gaze is only meant for her husband. And as a
woman I like how she shine on a simple translucent veil, in dark robes and even without jewelry,
she just shows that woman can be beautiful in a simple way.
