Essay on article 8 about street children on Dilla town and Addis Ababa towns

Fame Mohammed Abdula

According to the articles both of them are studies on the street children however the researcher
who study on Dilla town were worked on street work and the perceptions of children. According
to the article the researcher were selected purposive through used snowball sampling method. He
used multiple methods that increase children’s position as research participants. Researcher was
collected data through semi-participant observation, informal dialogue; in-depth interview and
focus group discussion and qualitative study of 24 purposely selected street working children in
Dilla town, Southern Ethiopia. The result of the researcher the Children participated in this study
perceived street work and domestic chores positively, viewing them essentially as duties owed to
their families’ precarious economic conditions and their love and support. Whereas in second
article the researcher study on the Social networks for survival among working children of Addis
Ababa. According to the article the researcher used qualitative methods were interviewed 45
children (38 male and 7 female). As a results of study the working children’s building and
maintaining of social networks as a case of social capital in practice. The children learnt the
culture, they entered and used networks and they got stronger. The older children took care of the
younger newcomers on the streets, and in this way they both built social capital.

In my opinion both researchers good Endeavour’s on the street children but there is same
deference between the researchers. I understand from both articles what about the social network
of street children and street working children. The similarity and different between two articles;
when we see the similarity between two articles both are used qualitative methods both are
selected participants through purposive sampling while the Dilla researcher used snowball
sampling techniques and empirical data used. In other ways there are different between two
articles the dilla are ethnographic research when the Addis Ababa work from different nations.

I critics both article throughout the weakness of the researchers and which methods used
unsatisfied. According to the article both researchers on Dilla and Addis Ababa was used only
qualitative study whereas the researchers from the Dilla town the researcher the while both
researchers worked on the life of street children and social network why the reason of children
outside from family and the problem behind that not include in the articles. Plus there are no the
role of family as children growth with you through learning his education.

When I evaluate both article what was done on the street children over all our country the
street children to increase time to time because of that both researcher study on the situation of
our country currently problem; if we see on the bate town the street children live in difficult
situation with the bate town because the family work on their children. The first agent of
socialization of the children is family so the parent’s growth very important for children and the
government of Ethiopia must be working those things.
