FIRST AID IN CASE OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

Fig. 1

1. Switch OFF. If this is not possible, PROTECT YOURSELF with

dry insulating material and pull the victim clear of the
conductor. DO NOT TOUCH THE VICTIM WITH YOUR HAND
until he is clear of the conductor, but DO NOT WASTE TIME.

Fig. 2

2. a. Place the victim in the supine position.

b. Keep the air passages clear by turning the head to one side,
opening the patient’s mouth and clearing it of water, saline, mucus
or blood, a lot of which might have accumulated in the back of the
throat. (Figure 1)

Fig. 3 3. If the jaw is rigid try to force the mouth open by pressure on the gum
behind the last molar tooth of the lower jaw. When the upper air passages
are thus cleared, tilt the head backward and force the jaw forwards from the
angles of the jaw in front of the ears. This would prevent mechanical
obstructions to the upper air passages. (Figure 2 – 3).

4. a. The hold the chin up and forward with one hand and pinch the
nostrils of the victim with the other. (Figure 4)
b. Take a very deep breath and apply your mouth to that of the victim
and blow into his mouth, until the chest of the victim moves up
Fig. 4 indicating filling of the lungs. (NEVER ALLOW THE CHIN TO
SAG). (Figure 4)

5. When the chest has moved up, withdraw your mouth and allow the chest to
sling back. REPEAT this process every three to four seconds until the victim
begins to breathe again or until he is taken over by a medical attendant. This
method can be continued in an ambulance during transit of the patient from
the site of accident to the nearest medical center.

HAVE SOMEONE ELSE AND SEND FOR A DOCTOR. KEEP

PATIENT WARM AND LOOSEN HIS CLOTHING. DO NOT GIVE
LIQUIDS UNTIL. THE PATIENT IS CONSCIOUS.

1.1. Introduction

The MSS Transreceiver terminal can be used to send and receive short
messages from any stationary/moving platforms to a stationary Hub station through
MSS Transponder of Indian Satellite, which operates in S x C and C x S links. The
MSS Transreceiver terminal houses MSS transmit chain and MSS receiver chain
modules. MSS transit section uses S x C transponder of INSAT-3C satellite and the
MSS receive chain uses C x S transponder of INSAT-3C satellite. MSS
Transreceiver unit operates on 24V DC. The messages are sent/received using Tx-
Rx client software loaded in Tx-Rx workstation. Serial communication (RS-232) is
used to send data to/from the units to Tx-Rx workstation. Network diagram is shown

The authorized users only can configure the transmit terminal. The following
parameters are configured from the TX-RX work station application:
 Terminal ID (MID)
 Frequency of operation (Channel number)
 Message packet size (40/200)
 Access type (TDMA/ALOHA)
The configuration will remain same even though the terminal is switched OFF and
can be modified by over writing on the old configuration. Graphical User interface
(GUI) shall be provided for selection of Terminal ID, frequency, message selection
and transmission.

MSS receiver section mainly consists LNAs, Trans-reject filter, LO & Down
converter, Demod & decoder and DC-DC converter. Functional block diagram of the
MSS Transmitter is shown in figure.4. The MSS receive section receives the BPSK
modulated signal with very high sensitivity of -136dBm (approx.). The received signal
is down converted and demodulated for extraction of actual message and sent it to
the receiving station for storage of messages.
