Enduring Understanding:

Natural resources are those resources that occur within the environment in their original and natural form, undisturbed by
humanity. They take years to form without the intervention of humans. The Mother Earth is abundant with natural resources
that develop on this planet using its surrounding environment. These natural resources are derived from the environment.
While few of them are used for our survival like water, air, rest of them like coal, gas, oil are used for satisfying our daily
needs. From forests to mountains to minerals to coastal shores and wetlands, each of these natural resources has its own
importance. This activity will help students identify the types of natural resources, understand their utility and find ways to
conserve them.

Learning Outcomes – At the end of the activity the students will be able to enhance:

● Find the difference between inexhaustible and exhaustible natural resources.

● Associate the utilization of resources with sustainability practices.

● Skills to enhance the measures taken for conservation of energy.

● Analyse the reason for placement of major thermal power plants in different regions.

Guidelines for Sway Presentation:(This activity is to be done on an Individual basis)

Students will create a sway presentation as per the guidelines given below and then email the same to their
respective teachers.

⮚ Slide 1: Design an appropriate Cover Page depicting the theme of the activity. Also, mention the title of the
activity, your name, class, section and roll number.
⮚ Slide 2: Give information about the following:
o What are Resources?
o Classification of Resources
o What are Natural Resources?
o How were Natural resources formed?
o Types of Natural Resources available
⮚ Slide 3: State and explain the uses of Natural Resources
⮚ Slide 4: Information about the major five coal and petroleum producing countries of the world.
⮚ Slide 5:
o Do you feel these natural resources are being used judiciously?
o If not, suggest ways of judicious usage and ways and means of conservation of these resources.
⮚ Also, create an online quiz on ‘Kahoot’ consisting of 5 questions each from Science, SST. Share the link of
the quiz with your respective subject teachers.
