Exposition text is used to express opinions about a problem by presenting arguments or supports in
the form of evidence, examples, and logical reasons, so that it can increase the knowledge and
insight of the reader.
OBJECTIVE
The exposition paragraph aims to explain, explain, convey information, teach and explain something
without being accompanied by an invitation or urging so that the reader accepts or follows it.
CHARACTERISTIC
• Not taking sides, means not imposing the author’s attitude on his readers.
LANGUAGE RULES
• Using conjunctions or connecting words, for example: while, so, and but.

TYPE
• Definition exposition is a paragraph that explains the meaning of something clearly and in detail.
• The analytical exposition is a paragraph that contains the division of the problem on the main idea
into certain parts which will later be arranged into sequential and systematic paragraphs.
• An illustration exposition is a paragraph that is developed based on a simple description of an idea
or idea.
• The exposition paragraph contains a contradiction between one thing and another.
• The connecting phrases that are often used are however, on the contrary and even though.
• News exposition contains information about events or exposure to certain research results.
• This type of text is often displayed in the mass media, both online and in print.
• Comparative exposition contains paragraphs of exposition of comparisons between one thing and
another.
• The author will try to transfer ideas and ideas to the reader through careful consideration from
various comparative points of view.

STRUCTURE
• Thesis is an opening essay that contains the author’s point of view on the topic of discussion.

the form of expert opinions, research results, or statements based on credible references.
•The restatement of the thesis is the final part that concludes the paragraph and reaffirms the thesis
and arguments.
