Share your stories of how you have used ICTs to be part of a social movement, change , or
cause to illustrate aspects of digital citizenship. Examples of such are creating a poetry , writing
blogs on belief of systems, politics , or about environmental concerns, and participating in a
clean-up drive or a fund-raising for typhoon victims.

Information communications technology (ICT) has the power to transform society. In our days
ICT technology advances with rhythms that are difficult to follow even for the high-tech
passionate and professionals. These technological advances and the full use of what ICT has to
offer come as natural for some. However, for others these are still a science-fiction dream to
catch since the gap between technologically developed and less developed societies is still far
from closed. In either case, the applications of high-tech ICT developments come with many
opportunities as well as challenges for ourselves as individuals and for the societies we live in.

Because of ICT, we are able to be informed thru digital platforms. Easy- access to information
has been evolved because of ICT. For examples, if we want to write a blog, to create an
announcement, post an environmental concerns, we can use ICT. It is more creative and
functional compared to the traditional ways that we used before.

Another example is helping other countries in natural phenomena such as typhoon. Donation
drives thru digitalized form that are posted thru internet or websites are accessible. Meaning to
say, it made our life easier. It is more convenient to help one another in case there are instances
like what is mentioned above. In this time of pandemic, announcement and other informative
matters are now seen in internet. We are aware of the happenings in our society.

2.How was your ICT experience ? Was it positive or negative ?

For me, ICT has a lot of positive impact. Let me share one by one.

ICT has opened up a wide range of new communication methods, allowing you to contact
others more or less instantaneously, and for less money and over greater distances than ever
before. It is really hard to communicate with other people, but now thru cellphones, computers,
internet and applications we can reach them all over the world.

Video conferencing saves money on flights and accommodation. ICT has not only brought the
countries and people closer together, but it has allowed the world's economy to become a single
interdependent system to contact either a business or family member.
ICT has made it possible for businesses to be automated giving clients access to a website or
voicemail 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Greater access to technology has helped to bridge the cultural gap by helping people from
different cultures to communicate with one another, and allow for the exchange of views and
ideas, thus increasing awareness and reducing prejudice.

Computer's along with their programs and the Internet have created educational opportunities
not available to previous generations.

Through ICT , images can easily be used in teaching and improving the retentive memory of
student.

That is why ICT is a positive outcome for me.

3.How did ICT change the way people communicated ?

Information and communication technology has made the world a global village in terms of
interconnections among people and institutions worldwide. It is the set of technologies that
enables the acquisition, production, storage, processing, communication, registration and
presentation of data in the form of voice, images and data contained in signals. Nowadays, it is
used for merging several technologies having different sets of data and formats. Speed / time -
money can be saved because it's much quicker to move information around. With the help of
ICT it has become quicker and more efficient. For instance, video conferencing and online
meeting platforms such as GoToMeeting, Zoom and Skype offer businesses the work remotely
in real-time, greatly reducing costs that come with having clients on-site or interacting with
employees who work remotely. Thanks to IT, businesses are able to connect and communicate
almost effortlessly with international consumers and suppliers.

4.Compare and contrast how things would have been done had there been no ICTs used and
had ICTs been used.
As time moves forward, everything around us changes. We have become a generation almost
entirely dependent on technology, and it goes without saying that things were done very
differently decades ago than they are now. But as much as some people like to say our reliance
on technology hinders us, we can't deny that it's made life a lot simpler.

Examples:

COMMUNICATION

BEFORE: Snail mail was a primary source of communication then, as opposed to today, where
it is the primary source of junk mail. I remember having pen pals in elementary school and being
incredibly excited about writing letters and buying stamps. While there's something very
romantic about the idea of snail mail, it's called snail mail for a reason—it's slow and ultimately,
inconvenient.

NOW: Today, we use literally anything else but snail mail to communicate with each other.
Whether it's email, text, video chat, fax or instant messaging, we have an arsenal of
technologies that allow us to contact each other without having to find a mailbox. Technology
has successfully shortened communication from several days to mere minutes.

TRANSPORTATION:

BEFORE: There's nothing more inconvenient than horse buggies, ships and those little covered
wagons you used to drive on that dreadful Oregon Trail game. Forget about the ridiculous
amount of time it takes to get everywhere, talk about uncomfortable! People regularly died trying
to get from point A to point B. Now that's inconvenient.

NOW: Our modes of transportation today are the definition of glamorous. From the first class
plane rides to the flashy sports cars, everything today is about speed, safety and comfort. Even
if all we can afford is a plane ride in coach or a ride in a 90s Honda, it still beats taking months
to go a few states over.

ENTERTAINMENT
BEFORE: Plays are definitely still a great source of entertainment today, but its medieval
counterpart isn't all too great. Even if special effects were a little better, let's remember that
women were played by men because the stage was "no place for a female."

NOW: Thank goodness for the movie theaters, cable television, Netflix, video games and phone
apps! Not only are things a little more fun than they were back then, we're also starting to get
more diverse media representation whether it's gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. Now
that's what I call progress.
