Let’s Check

Activity 1: Answer the following questions.

1. Given the roles and responsibilities of a nursing informaticists, do think there is a

difference between them and a plain nurse?

There is a distinction between a nursing informaticist and a regular nurse. Since

nursing informaticists' roles and responsibilities are more focused on the use of
technology, they strive to give knowledge on new workflows, lead the adoption of new
technology and processes, and check data quality, giving care teams the best opportunity
of providing optimum care. Unlike a regular nurse that are involved in both the use of
technology, such as documenting electronic medical records, and the provision of
interventions, such as medicine administration, which is not associated with or performed
by a nursing informaticist. Both professions, however, have the same goal: to offer the
greatest possible care for the patient's wellbeing.

2. Among the qualification of a nursing specialist, which one would like to have or
improve and why?

Advanced practice registered nurses with a master's or doctorate degree in a particular

field of nursing practice are known as nursing specialists. In my career, I would like to get
a Doctoral degree. Since, in addition to a Bachelor's degree, acquiring a Doctoral degree
opens up a world of possibilities and opportunities for employment and wage growth.
Furthermore, having a Doctoral Degree adds to the quality of my expertise, as having more
knowledge means more options for treatment or providing care for the patient, and I firmly
believe that if a professional is equipped and knowledgeable to the point where she or he
has more to offer, he can provide excellent and improve quality care.
