Merritts Roger Sloan shot a final round of 6-under 66 Sunday & won the inaugural Canadian Tour Western Championship at Rivershore in Kamloops by three strokes. Sloan, who commuted from his parent's house just 90km from the course, finished at 23-under 265. He was able to secure victory largely based on his mistake free weekend. Sloan's only bogey for the tournament came when he hit an errant tee shot on the par-4 ninth hole. "I was extremely proud of myself for being able to win this tournament," said Sloan whose father Curtis was caddying for him this week. "Having my Dad on the bag and my friends and family watching was a big bonus for me and I can say it helped me win." Roger Sloan now sits in second place on the Canadian Tour's Order of Merit with $31,532 in earnings. The top 5 players following next month's Players Cup will earn berths into the PGA's Canadian Press Canadian Open.

Music in the City starts the new season this Thurs., June 16th and runs until September 1st, 6-8pm at Merritt Spirit Square with the exceptions of one show in July and one in August to be held at Rotary Park. This year, organizers are hoping to add a marketplace, under the gazebo, to the event. Another free music opportunity, every Thursday.
