ACTIVITY SHEETS IN SOC SCI 221 LIFE AND WORKS OF JOSE RIZAL
(FINAL COVERAGE)

ACTIVITY NO. 1
1. What was your most unforgettable childhood memories? Why was it memorable for you?

Answer:
There was a countless memories but the most unforgettable moment then is when I was
able to get along with my friends, a friends who was like a siblings to me. I remembered
the time when I have to escaped or run away from my parents just play outside amidst of
the heat. We played all day, and sometimes we find some empty bottles and then we
sold it for us to have a money for our picnic. And then when I got home I was trembling
with fear because I didn’t ask permission to go out and sometimes they’ll pinched me for
being so noughty. It was the most unforgettable moment for me because somewhat I
experienced to be happy. That time also is a part of my life where I don’t care about my
life, about my homeworks, problems, stress-free, I just wanted to have fun. Because as
we grow older, we became so busy, we do have our responsibility. We can’t turn back
the time because life comes around once and thus we should enjoy every moment of our
lives.

2. What was the most important lesson you have learned in your life and how it influenced
you to your time as a student?
Answer:
The most important lesson I've learned throughout my journey as a person is that, firstly, we
can't please everyone. The thing is that, sometimes the people we thought we can trust with, is
also the one's who's just waiting for us to mess up. And thats the thing that I've realized, to not
just rely with anybody, we shouldn't let anyone dectate our future. Although there are times that
we wanted to belong, to be liked, and to be valued but not to the extent that they're dectating
your integrity and happiness. Second is, there's no shame of not knowing. Before, I was
ashamed of not being able to to answer a certain question because of the mindset that people
might laugh at me when I can't, but then I've learned that pretending that you know everything
doesn't make you perfect, besides the purpose of having education is for us the learn, and not
to be judged. We can't know everything, but as we go, we learn and grow. The sufferings,
difficulties, and trials that I've experienced have taught me to be brave enough to face
challenges in life with respect, love, and perseverance. It gives me the eagerness to continue
pursuing my dreams as a student and influenced me to become a better version of my self.

ACTIVITY NO. 2
1. Does Rizal deserved to be executed? Explain your answer.

Answer:
No, because he did nothing wrong but to awaken the minds of the Filipinos. He only stated the
truth on how the Spaniards treated us, how they treat us like slaves, idiots, and weak, that we
should fight and not to ignore or neglect their cruelty, that we should know how to be brave
enough to get the freedom we deserve against them. And one thing is that, Jose Rizal's way of
fighting is not through bloody fights and wars, instead he fought for us in a silent but a powerful
way. He inspires a lot of people to take non-violent actions, that wars aren't the solution for
misagreement . And he did nothing wrong for just protecting his fellow countrymen, and to look
for peace and freedom. And that's the reason why he don't deserved to be executed that way.

2. If Rizal had done so much for the country’s independence, how about you? What was
the most important thing you have done in the past and how it influenced to your life at
present?
Answer:
I may not have done something as what our hero, Dr. Jose Rizal does, yet I've done something
that made me become better even more. That is to trust myself in everything that I do, and don't
let other people be a hindrance to achieve my goals in life. There is nothing more beautiful and
satisfying than seeing yourself grow and believing yourself that you can do something. Just like
Rizal, he trusted himself that he can make a change and finally he does. My past have given me
the courage the pursue, coped up and survived hard times. People will try to put us down, but
do not be discouraged by it for these will served as our motivation to finally reach our goals. Life
is uncertain, thus, we must trust ourselves that we can do something and we can be better even
if we're sorrounded by negative people and that's the only way for us to make a change.
