Mathematics Education Amidst the Pandemic

Teaching and learning math is extremely difficult in this new normal setting and

since the pandemic has started .There will be doubts, concerns, and anxieties.

Misconceptions to the different concepts and ideas in mathematics may occur due to

the absence of face to face classes. The students tend to learn from their own self

learning modules as their guide in learning mathematics. Mathematics teachers also

may tend to develop a lower mathematics skills like critical thinking and creative thinking

because of the situation.

It is critical to meet the needs of all learners in the classroom when teaching.

Everyone should be given the chance to study. However, because learning occurs in a

number of ways, this can be a challenging process at times. Different learning styles are

a given in a class full of diverse people; not all students learning study in the same way.

Because each learner is unique, they do not all acquire and remember information in

the same way.

It's easy to listen to a math teacher over the radio, but a student won't be able to

conceive a figure or draw an image because he can't see anything. Unless a learner

fails to understand an instruction even with the aid of a figure or an illustration, watching

a math teacher on TV will be a lot easier. When it comes to teaching and learning math,

chalk and board are an absolute must-have.

Even if a solution to a math problem is offered clearly in a module, textbook, or

learning activity sheet, it will never be sufficient, efficient, or effective. Math teachers

must describe numerous procedures in order for students to understand both concept
and content. They must not merely teach true or false, 1 + 2, or x & y. These will be

bolstered even more by the use of math software such as geogebra and math gadgets

such as graphing calculators.

The assumption that math is the most difficult subject to master should be

eliminated. The teachers should provide the best way of teaching strategies for the

students to have a very strong foundation in mathematics . Its real-life applications

should be realistic and useful. Even in the new normal, such efforts should begin with

math teachers themselves, so students will begin or continue to enjoy and enjoy

learning the subject.
