Lab Work

Lab work – I (Sorting a Data)


Sorting means arranging the data either in ascending or descending order
Step 1: Prepare the following table in excel

Name Marks
Aditi 25
Gunjan 27
Sanchit 28
Jatin 29
Elisha 28
Bhushan 16
Dia 25

Step 2: Select the data


Step 3: Click on Data Tab
Step 4: A window appears fill the required content
Sort by Name/Marks and decide Ascending or descending

Lab Work – 2 (Data Validation)
Data Validation is used to restrict the type of data or value that users enter a cell
Eg: In name box  User cannot enter number considering Previous data

Step 1: Select marks column


Step 2: Do to Data and click on Data Validation
Step 3: A window will come
Allow  Whole Number
Data  Between
Minimum - Enter Minimum Value
Maximum  Enter Maximum Value
Now enter the value check the validation

Lab Work – 3 (Adding Sub Total in Database)
The sub total feature in database helps us to manage, analyse and extract specific information
from rows of related data . For this data must be sorted

Step 1: Create a data

Step 1: Select the table
Step 2: Go to Data
Step 3: Click on Sub Total
Step 4: At Each change in : Month
Use Function : Sum
Add Subtotal to : Sales
Uncheck the replace current subtotals
Click ok

Lab Work – 4 (Filtering Data)
It helps you to display only those records that meet the specified criteria

Step 1: Select Data


Step 2: Go to Data
Step 3: Click on Filter
You will find small arrow on heading. Choose the required heading/Feature
 Click on filter to remove filter
(Advance filter)
It is used to enter the data set to some other location
Considering the above data
Step 1: As per requirement write heading and criteria Range at other place

Eg: Region
West

Step 2: Select Table


Step 3: Go to Data  Advanced Filter
A window will come
 Copy to other location
List Range – Comes Automatically
Criteria Range - Select Criteria – (Region & West)
Copy to - Place where you want to paste the result
Click ok

and tends in your area.
Considering below data

Step 1: Select the data


Step 2: Click on Insert
Step 3: Click on Pivot Table
Step 4: A window will open, click on OK

Filter Column
Subject

Rows Values
Name Sum of Marks

Drag and drop as per the details given above and click ok

Lab Work – 6 (Forms)


By default forms option is not available in excel
To get that click on file tab - Options Quick Access Toolbar (3rd Last Options)
In place of popular commands click on all commands
Click on forms
Click on add
Click on OK
Now you will get form icon on quick access Toolbar (Top Left Corner)

Now create a heading

Name Hindi English Maths Total

 Apply Sum Formula


Step 1: Click on Form Icon form quick Access Tool
Step 2: Enter all Required details
Step 3:Click on New to add data
