My output regarding the migration pattern of my parents is not complicated. It can easily
be understood and analyzed in their journey. There are fewer job opportunities in my
parents' hometown, so at a young adult stage, both my parents work in Manila to seek
jobs to sustain and support their families in the province. Then, they settled again in their
hometown in Mahaplag after they got married. Years later, my family moved to Baybay Uguis, Mahaplag, Leyte
(My family lives right now)
City, where my father works. The landlord (my father's friend, because they will use the
lot for business purposes) also forcibly “gipahawa mi sa balay”, the reason why we
“Father’s parents’
moved to Baybay. We don’t have the choice because there is an agreement between the
two parties that they can displace us at any time. The next reason is that universities are hometown/ free lot”
nearby in Baybay where I and my siblings can study. Since the pandemic started, we “Father’s parents &
moved and settled again in Mahaplag, to live simply and this is where my family lives relatives”
right now. The social capital encountered by my parents helped them to easily settle into (Social Capital)
their destination. It serves as their guide and a source of information for them to arrive at
their designated place. With their social capital in each place, they are able to survive “Financial deficit”
and use the available resources around them. (Problems/Challenges)
