Title : Sang kancil dan monyet yang degil (The mouse-deer and the stubborn

monkey)

Once upon a time, Sang Kancil and his little friend, the turtle planted many kinds of
fruit and vegetable in their garden. They planted cucumber, chilli, tomato, banana,
orange and carrot.

After a few weeks, the fruits and vegetables are riped and ready to be eaten. They
picked them all and ate them deliciously. Sang Kancil felt very delighted and said “I
am very happy to see all of our fruits and vegetables grow beautifully and delicious.”
The turtle nodded, agreeing with him.

While they were eating, a hungry monkey came. “Hello there, I am Mr.monkey. I
haven’t eaten for a few days because I have no food left. I feel so hungry. Can you
give me some of your food?”. Sang kancil and the turtle felt pity for the monkey so
they invited the him to join them. Then the monkey started eating all the fruits and
vegetables there.

Suddenly, the monkey saw a red-fruited tree. The red fruits looked very appealing to
monkey. So, he went to grab some. Sang Kancil and the turtle tried to stop him but
he didn’t listen and stubbornly grabbed the fruit and ate it.

After that, he started to feel something wrong with his tongue. He said “I feel my
tongue is burning. I don’t like the taste of this fruit. This fruit feels so hot and spicy!”
while wiping his tears that came out from his eyes and jumping round with his red
face. Sang kancil replied “Of course it is hot and spicy because it is a chilli tree. That
is why we forbade you to eat it.”

Sang kancil and the turtle then rushed to give the monkey a jug of cold water. The
monkey finished the jug of water. After the monkey began to feel calm, he
apologised to Sang kancil and the turtle. He felt sad and regretted for his stubborn
and greedy behaviour.

The monkey said “I am terribly sorry for my bad behaviour. To make this up, I will
help you to plant your fruits and vegetables.” Sang kancil replied “We forgive you.
You may help us with these plants. Then we can eat them together.” The monkey
was very happy to hear that and jokingly said “Yes we can eat all of the fruits except
the chilli that made me jumping around like crazy.” They all laughed.

After that, the monkey and sang kancil and also the turtle become bestfriends. They
always took care of the plants and eat them together.
