Group discussions and interactions besides communication require several aspects to be given

attention. To begin with, any given group that is formed has a purpose to accomplish certain given
objectives. Thus, group members getting to know the aim of the group formed is mandatory and
normally will act as the manual of the expectations needed from them. Secondly, there has to be a rule
that is set concerning the same. These rules can be formed depending on the objectives of the group
formed. During the interaction and communication with other group members, there was the use of a
common language and common concepts that are the group members were familiar with giving an
overall understanding of the entire knowledge entailed. Given we are all business-related courses
students, common and necessary terminologies were applied in expressing various marketing scenes
leading to an easier process of meeting the required objectives of the group and accomplishing them.

Given any role assigned within a group, whatever the objectives in any subject, various
challenges may arise related to those undertaking the given roles, be it the team leaders and secretaries
among others. Given I was just a member of the group it also comes with its challenges where in most
cases, those mandated with certain roles appear to be most active in voicing out their opinions.
Furthermore, being entrusted with certain roles and having uncooperative members also poses a
challenge. Group members that are dormant and rarely show up for group sessions make it difficult for
the group leaders. Additionally, being entrusted with any given role within the group always makes one
responsible for any outcomes within the group, for instance, in case of any drawbacks it always begins
with the leaders. Therefore, group management is challenging during various times in scenarios that
require the full involvement of all the team members. Instances such as; lateness, in attendance among
other issues that could affect the group performance negatively. As such, the ideal recommendation will
include the use of penalties that would be of benefit to the group. For example, dormancy and lateness
can be dealt remedied by the use of fines or rather some assignments that have to be completed by the
given member. Personally, opted for the obligations of keeping the participation data and attendance
records. Additionally, deciding on a group schedule regarding various activities is also vital and an ideal
role to undertake. Such roles provide one with the morale to be punctual on time and responsible,
however, all these require proper planning and implementation of happenings.

As someone obliged with various roles such as mine within the group, I got to learn of the
numerous challenges one might come across when entrusted with authority over other team members
and got a better understanding of how to resolve them. I was able to understand the importance of
timely and effective communication that proved important in the success of the planned events of our
group thus achieving the group’s intentions promptly. Another aspect I was able to learn from the group
work was being able to challenge my fellow group members through discussions and encouraging
dormant members to participate actively by use of consistent activities whereby we could team up
together over Zoom where we could carry out virtual workout sessions every one hour before holding
our group session, this, in turn, would result in the team members being excited and active during the
discussions. Besides, I also noticed that some of the group members were not patient during discussions
whereby one member could not let another member air out their opinions completely before disrupting
them which proved less productive. By having to allocate each member a chance during the discussion
resulted in a deeper understanding of knowledge on the topic that would have been missed if the group
members could keep interrupting other members before they were through. Additionally, this resulted
in a better understanding of the topic in question and deeper research of the topic amongst all group
members given each one was expected to participate thus everyone could research on their own.
Besides, this resulted in all group members getting a chance to enhance their experience in teamwork
through effective use of social skills during communication and orderly active participation which is vital
in teamwork.

The group had been formulated to research comprehensively on the integration of technology
in business and marketing. Given technology is an essential and dynamic aspect in business although
dangerous at the same time, the group has to use a lot of time and cooperation in gathering enough
information to argue out points. Additionally, the case at hand is to be evaluated numerous times both
as a group and an individual. For my case, I had to read the case almost five times before I had a clear
and thorough understanding of it and what was expected of me in giving my research and opinion on
the subject at hand.

Group work is enjoyable and very productive if only all the group members are cooperative and
yearning to learn. Additionally, when a common cord is put in place the group sessions become easier to
manage. Sincerity and effective communication also make group objectives easier to accomplish.
Besides these, the availability of readily available resources is vital for all the activities going on within
the group. For instance, in our case during one of the group sessions, the internet was down which
resulted in the interruption of the session’s activities given research resources were not available
without the internet forcing the group discussion to be interrupted.
