This notice has reference to the notice published on 19 January 2022 regarding “Postponement of ICAN Students’
Contest 2022”considering the health protocols notified by the Government of Nepal to take precautions against
COVID 19 pandemic. The Institute now announces nomination by Chartered Accountancy Students of CAP II and
CAP III Level to participate in the following Contest going to be held on 22 and 23 June 2022.

i. ICAN Quiz Contest


ii. ICAN Elocution Contest
iii. ICAN Debate Contest
iv. ICAN Poem Contest

It would be an opportunity for students to express their knowledge and skills which shall also enhance their
professional development. It is imperative that during the course of preparation of the contests, students will get
deep insight into the subject matters.

It is also important to note that the winners of the Students’ Contest 2022 will be awarded with Cash Prize and
winner of ICAN Quiz and Elocution Contest shall also enjoy the preference for Institutional nomination to
participate in SAFA Quiz and Elocution Contest which will be organized by the South Asian Federation of
Accountants (SAFA).

The eligibility criteria and program details in this regard is available in the Annexure below.
Interested students desirous to participate in the contest are advised to apply by filling the form in below link and
submit their details latest by 19 June 2022.

Students who have already submitted their application need to resubmit the form from above link and they may
change the topic or contest if they wish to do so. Hence, applications received from 13 June 2022 to 19 June 2022
shall only be considered eligible for participation.

ICAN STUDENTS’ CONTEST 2022

Program Details:
Date 22 and 23 June 2022 (8 and 9 Ashad 2079)
Time 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Venue ICAN Office, Satdobato, Lalitpur

Elocution Contest:
Date and Time –22 June 2022, 10:00 AM onwards
Eligibility - CAP III level students (who are undergoing articleship) not more than 27 years of age as on last
date of application deadline are eligible to participate in the contest.
Topics - Student may choose any of the below topics:
-Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and Role of Professional Accountants
-Data Analytics in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
-Role of Finance Professionals in Audit Committee
Language – English
Mode – Powerpoint Presentation
Criteria-
 Each contestant has to submit the topic and content one day before the commencement of the contest
on which he/she will be speaking out of the pre disclosed list published.
 ICAN registration number shall be considered as order for performance.
 Time allocation for each contestant will be ten minutes. A warning bell will ring at the end of the eight
minutes, signaling the contestant to conclude the discussion in another two minutes.
 The following criteria may be taken into account while evaluating the performance of the participants:
o Lucidity of language : 6 marks
o Style of delivery : 6 marks
o Capacity to engage the attention of the audience : 6 marks
o Precision of expression : 6 marks
o Answers to the questions asked by the judges : 10 marks
o Depth of coverage of the subject matter including reference to latest developments in the
concerned area : 60 marks
o Adherence to time limit : 6 marks
Total: 100 Marks

Poem Contest:
Date and Time –22 June 2022, 2:00 PM onwards
Eligibility - CAP II and CAP III level students
Topics - Students may choose any topic related to the field of accounting profession
Language – Nepali or English
Mode – Recitation
Criteria-
 Each contestant has to submit the topic one day before the commencement of the contest on which
he/she will be performing.
 ICAN registration number shall be considered as order for performance.
 Evaluation will be based on the coverage of the subject matters’, style of delivery, capacity to engage the
audience etc.

Debate Contest:
Date and Time –23 June 2022, 10:00 AM onwards
Eligibility - CAP II and CAP III level students
Topics - Student may choose any of the below topics:
- CA Education: Self Learning Vs Guided Learning
-Career Choice after CA: Profession Vs. Industry
-Social Media: Boon Vs Bane
Language – Nepali or English
Mode – Speech
Criteria-
 Each contestant has to submit the topic one day before the commencement of the contest on which
he/she will be speaking out of the pre disclosed list published.
 ICAN registration number shall be considered as order for performance.
 Time allocation for each contestant will be ten minutes. A warning bell will ring at the end of the eight

 Evaluation will be based on the coverage of the subject matters’ language command, capacity to engage
the audience etc.

Quiz Contest:
Date and Time –23 June 2022, 2:00 PM onwards
Eligibility - CAP III level students (who are undergoing articleship) not more than 27 years of age as on last
date of application deadline are eligible to participate in the contest.
Topics - -Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS)
-NFRS 7 & 9
-Revised Audit Report with Special Emphasis on NSA 700 & 701
Language – English
Mode – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based Questions

Criteria-
 MCQs set on topics mentioned above shall be provided to students.
 Each MCQ carries equal marks. Double marking on answer script will be considered as wrong answer.
There will be no negative marking for any wrong answers.

Student can apply for single contest only. Top three winners of each contest will be eligible for prize money
distributed on annual day of the Institute. Rest of the contestant will receive certificate of participation.
