5.0 Question: Determine the type of aluminum alloy you have been provided based
on the experimental information compare your experimental results with reference
sources for the following alloys: 2011-T3, 2024-T351, 6061-T6 and 7075-T6.

Answer:
Comparison of Mechanical Properties of the Unknown Aluminum Specimen and the
Reference Aluminum Alloy is given fin the following table:

Mechanical Supplied Standard Value of Aluminum Alloy

Properties Specimen 2011-T3 2024-T351 6061-T6 7075-T6
Tensile Strength 70860.93 55000 68000 45000 83000

Yield Strength (Psi) 54253.69 43000 47000 40000 73000
% of Elongation 16.94 15 19 17 11

Table 1 : Comparison of Mechanical Properties of the Unknown Aluminum

Specimen and the Reference Aluminum Alloy.

Compared to the standard value with the supplied aluminum specimen it can be say
that the supplied specimen is Aluminum 2024-T351.

6. 0 Conclusions:
Percentage of difference between the experimental value and the theoretical value of
mechanical properties are given in the following table:

Table 2 : Percentage of difference between the experimental value and the
theoretical value of mechanical properties

From the above comparison, it is evident that the value of the mechanical properties
of the supplied aluminum specimen is closer to the theoretical value of aluminum alloy
2024-T351 compared to the other aluminum alloys. It can be concluded that the
Supplied Aluminum Specimen is 2024-T351.
