A RESOLUTION REQUESTING FUND ALLOCATION FROM THE PROVINCIAL

GOVERNMENT THROUGH HON. GOV. RHODORA CADIAO AND HON. VICENT
PICCIO, SP MEMBER CHAIRMAN ON INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE
RECONSTRUCTION OF THE COLLAPSED HANGING BRIDGE IN BARANGAY
LATAZON, LAUA-AN, ANTIQUE AND ANOTHER HANGING BRIDGE ON THE
SAME BARANGAY

Whereas, RA 7160 otherwise known as Local Government Code of 1991 mandates the local
officials to initiate projects beneficial to its constituents that lead in the preservation and
security of life and properties;
Whereas, last June 15, 2022 a tragedy happened with the collapse of the hanging footbridge
thereby resulting to major injury of two persons among others and at the moment
investigation is ongoing for what really happened;
Whereas, such collapsed hanging bridge connects the main barangay (southbound area) to the
access road leading to the farm-to-market-road and it serves as the safest way for people to
cross over anytime of the day and night, and for the daily transaction of the people for
survival;
Whereas, with the collapsed of the hanging bridge mentioned above, it also lead to an option for
people to cross over the river for their daily living in the farms and in the government
offices, thereby a high risk for the lives and property losses;
Whereas, there is an urgent need to reconstruct a more stable and effective hangiung bridge that
meets the minimum standard of construction in order to serve its purpose for the safety and
security of the people;
Whereas, there was also a similar old age hanging bridge constructed at the northside of the same
barangay connecting from the main road to the baranngay proper erected with the

 elementary school, barangay health station, barangay hall among others and thickly
populated zone wherein such hanging bridge is also prone to collapse in due time as per
assessment of the municipal engineering office and even the provincial engineering offices
which visited the barangay for an inspection and monitoring concerns last June 20, 2022;
Whereas, considering that rainy season is coming and might results to flood, soil erosion and
alike natural calamities, there is a need to urgently reconstruct sturdy and stronger hanging
bridges;
Now therefore on motion made by Hon. Elsa Vicente and seconded by Hon. Rolly Narciso and
the mass, be it;
Resolved as it is hereby resolved to REQUESTING FUND ALLOCATION FROM THE
PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT THROUGH HON. GOV. RHODORA CADIAO AND
HON. VICENT PICCIO, SP MEMBER CHAIRMAN ON INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE
RECONSTRUCTION OF THE COLLAPSED HANGING BRIDGE IN BARANGAY
LATAZON, LAUA-AN, ANTIQUE AND ANOTHER HANGING BRIDGE ON THE
SAME BARANGAY
Resolved finally to furnish copies of this resolution the Office of the Governor, Office of the
Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Office of the Mayor Mayor and Municipal Engineer Office for
their information and appropriate action.
Unanimously approved.
