K-12 Basic Education Program and National Indigenous People's Education Policy
Framework (DepEd Order No. 62, s. 2011) mandate that the DepEd shall promote greater
awareness and appreciation of human rights and cultural diversity among all learners, as well as
DepEd teaching and non-teaching personnel, within the framework of inclusive and effective
learning environments. Because of the significant shift that has been taking place over the last
few years, it is thought that this inclusion will considerably aid in our culture's restoration and
revival, especially in light of the ongoing transition. The new generation is unfamiliar with "laro
ng lahi," kids these days spend most of their time interacting with games through smartphones,
tablets, and other electronic devices. Today's generation is exposed to radiation while sitting in a
corner and pressing and touching keys on a small box, making them prone to disease and even
health difficulties such as eye problems. According to certain studies, the inflammation of
tendons, joints, and fingers has also been linked to excessive device use. In addition, bad posture,
such as a forward head, bent back, or rounded shoulders might result from this. We must urge
millennials to participate in active play instead of staring at their smartphones and tablets.
Children learn about the world around them and how to interact with others through active play.
On the other hand, children prefer to stay in their rooms and play games on their computers,
tablets, and smartphones. They miss out on the opportunity to grow holistically because they
have forgotten about outdoor games.
Our Filipino children will benefit from adding "laro ng lahi" to the International Primary
Education Program (IPEd). Playing these games with children can help them learn the delight of
engaging in active play, which is essential to their overall development. A child's overall
development can only take place through play. Bone and muscle structures improve as they
walk, run, and leap, helping to strengthen their immune system. The ability to resolve conflict is
one of the many benefits children gain from engaging in free play. As they explore their
surroundings, they acquire wisdom and information. Native games can also help preserve the
culture of our country, which is slowly but surely dying. For the benefit of future generations,
this will allow them to appreciate better what has been around for millennia.
Thinking about the good experiences we had in the past will never fail to make us happy.
Keeping in mind that memories are invaluable, it is prudent to do so whenever possible. It is
essential to reflect on the things we have valued in the past and share that knowledge with future
generations. Despite this, let us try to save and maintain our culture. We are responsible to our
ancestors and the generations that will come after us to preserve the past.
