I think there are several reasons why corporate communication appeals to me. First, the
ability to influence others is so much fun. I have always been fascinated with marketing and
communication, and what better way to use them than in a professional environment. The
idea of influencing others is really appealing. It makes me happy knowing I can make a
difference in the business world. I love being able to take my company's message and share
it with my co-workers, peers, and stakeholders. I have gained valuable experience working
on branding design back at my previous job, which has been very helpful with this line of
work. Now, I can commit and use my skills and experience to make a better image for the
company. In addition, I think businesses must speak with one voice when it comes to their
marketing materials. It's also essential for companies to be mindful of how they present
themselves, especially when it comes to their websites and social media channels. Suppose
the company or organisation aren't mindful of how they communicate with their customers.
In that case, people are going to perceive us as either unprofessional or unreliable, and
there's no reason for them to do business with us. Hence, where I play my role in this
corporate communication to influence and control people see and listen about our company.
Second, corporate communication helps me to understand people better. It’s like a game of
chess. I like to go through the possible moves and tactics to get my audience on my side.
But often, it can be hard to engage with the audience. I like to play the game with myself and
ask several questions, for example; Who am I trying to communicate with? (target audience)
How do I want them to feel about my company? (emotional appeal) What do I want them to
think? (logical appeal) What is the purpose of communication? (point of contact) What are
some tools that I could use for this job? (media options). From there, I can learn and
understand how my audience sees and listen to my company so I can deliver the company’s
message more easily and accurately. This process, even though challenging but gives me
satisfaction.
