INT. ERIKA'S HOUSE - DAY (FLASHBACK)
ERIKA is in an operation in a place that appears to be a
cave, wearing a mask, she adjusts her gloves and takes a
syringe from the operating table.
FADE OUT:

EXT. SOMNIA ORPHANAGE - DAY


The screen is a television, it turns on and the entrance
to the main office of “SOMNIA” orphanage appears, and
some parents approach the main door, a NUN comes out and
receives them.
NUN
(cheerful)
Oh hello! Welcome to the Somnia
orphanage, come in, come in, let
me tell you what we do here.
The camera follows the nun and the future family inside
the facility.

INT. SOMNIA ORPHANAGE - DAY


Happy, smiling children run out the front entrance around
the parents.
NUN
(cheerful)
Here at Somnia the dream of our
children is everyone's dream, we
encourage their creativity.
An art room is shown, where there are children drawing,
painting, and singing.
NUN (CONT'D)
(cheerful)
Not only that, but we also have
an excellent education system,
with this, we ensure a
competitive future for our
children.
A classroom is shown, where there are children saying
numbers and another room with children writing.
NUN (CONT'D)
(cheerful)
Our meals are delicious and
nutritious, just what every
child needs.
The dining room and children eating are shown.
NUN (CONT'D)
(cheerful)
We also have an excellent health
system.
A boy runs out of the nurse's office and hugs the NUN.
NUN (CONT'D)
(whispering)
And here the children are such
tenderness.
The parents look at each other and smile.
The parents and the nun sign a document in an office,
then a boy walks through the door and hugs his new
parents.
NARRATOR
Here at the Somnia Orphanage,
our children are our priority,
their dreams are always fully
supported, come to the Somnia
Foundation, where the child of
your dreams awaits.
An image of the orphanage appears, a telephone number,
and a small sign requesting nurses.
FADE TO:

INT. ERIKA'S CAR - DAY


Erika arrives at the “SOMNIA” orphanage, takes her
papers, looks in the mirror, fixes her makeup, and gets
out of the car.

EXT. SOMNIA ORPHANAGE - DAY


She enters through the main door of the Orphanage offices
it’s a big shock by the difference between the place from
the commercial and the place she was seen.
She approaches the reception and rings the bell, no
answer so she rings a second time, waits for someone to
appear and rings a third time, when Mrs. GERTRUD a lady
around 60 years old, appears, walking towards the
counter.
GERTRUD
(somewhat angry)
People no longer have patience
for these things.
(grumbling)
How can I help you?
ERIKA
(nervous)
Hi… My name is Erika, um… sorry,
I just saw your ad on TV, and… I
was wondering, is the job still
available?
GERTRUD
(doubtful)
um! follow me
Erika follows Gertrud and explores a bit down the hallway
to the right it´s Principal BENJAMIN's office, Gertrud
knocks on the door.
GERTRUD
Doctor? A girl came for an
interview.
Gertrud waits for the doctor to open while Erika
continues to explore and looks around. Gertrud knocks
the door again.
GERTRUD (CONT’D)
Doctor? Are you there?.
Erika continues to explore while Gertrud stands in front
of the door. Erika approaches Gertrud.
GERTRUD (CONT’D)
(sarcastic)
!You're lucky! Apparently, he is
not in his office, so the
Superior Mother will interview
you.
Erika nods her head and follows Gertrud across the
offices to Gertrud's office.
Arrived at the offices of Superior Mother ELVIRA. Gertrud
knocks on the door and Elvira opens the door.
ELVIRA
(grumpy)
What do you want, Gertrude? I'm
in the middle of something
important!
GERTRUD
(embarrassed, ashamed)
Excuse me, superior mother, the
matter is that Erika comes to an
interview for the position of
the nurse.
Elvira looks at Erika.
ELVIRA
(grumpy)
Come back at noon, I'm really
busy right now.
ERIKA
(nervous)
But Mrs. Elvira...
Elvira slams the door in front of Gertrud and Erika.
Erika looks at Gertrud.
ERIKA (CONT'D)
(nervous)
I could try?
GERTRUD
(annoyed)
You heard the Superior Mother,
You have to be here at noon,
don't be late, you can wait for
her sitting here.

INT. SOMNIA ORPHANAGE - DAY (EXPLORATION)


Gertrud storms off, leaving Erika alone. Erika begins to
explore the orphanage, she looks at some classrooms
outside and sees some children studying and painting with
sad faces. In the dining room, she finds it empty and
cannot enter the kitchen. Upon reaching the infirmary she
can only see the main entrance, she cannot enter the
medical areas yet.
Then she goes up to the children's rooms and finds
everything alone, the children are in class, and take a
few collectibles and objects scattered in the rooms, in
the halls of the rooms she can see many pictures and
paintings. Then checks the children's lockers and hears a
tapping on one of them.
She fearfully approaches the locker, she feels that she
is being watched, she hears whispers, she opens the
locker and a mouse runs out of it.
Erika returns to the offices.

INT. SOMNIA ORPHANAGE OFFICES - DAY


Gertrud knocks with Erika at the Superior's Mother front
door, then Erika enters.
ELVIRA
(grumpy)
And tell me why you want the
job?
ERIKA
(nervous)
I have worked before in other
hospitals, psychiatric and
orphanages, among many others, I
have a lot of experience and I
am confident in my abilities.
ELVIRA
(sarcastic)
Ha! But why specifically this
orphanage? I say there are many
others.
ERIKA
(nervous)
Hem... I lived almost all my
life in an orphanage similar to
this one, it brings back a lot
of memories, I would like to
spend my last days before my
retirement doing what I really
love.
ELVIRA
(grumpy)
Hum… I'm really busy today, you
start tomorrow, it will be your
test day.

Find Gertrud, she will show you where you will stay and
explain the rest, now get out of here.
Erika smiles and leaves the place looking for Gertrud,
she inspects all the rooms on the first floor of the
office, but decides to call her at the reception.
Gertrud comes from the door behind the office.
GERTRUD
(grumpy)
What do you want girl?
ERIKA
(happy)
No… I got the job! The Superior
Mother told me that you would
show me where I would stay and
tell me what to do next.
GERTRUD
(grumbling)
Hmm… Follow me.

INT. NUN´S ROOMS SOMNIA ORPHANAGE - DAY


Erika follows Gertrud behind the office, past the break
room, and up to the nuns' quarters showing her room,
Erika approaches Gertrud.
INT. ERIKA´S ROOM SOMNIA ORPHANAGE - DAY
GERTRUD
(indifferent)
Here you can rest, it will be
your private space, only
Benjamin or the superior mother
can enter, you are on probation
if you don´t do your job well
tomorrow you will be gone.
Gertrud without waiting leaves. Erika settles into her
room to rest.

INT. ERIKA´S ROOM SOMNIA ORPHANAGE - DAY

Erika wakes up and heads to the closet, where she changes


into her nurse's uniform, then heads down to the front of
the office.

INT. SOMNIA ORPHANAGE OFFICES - DAY

Gertrud arrives and walks past Erika.

GERTRUD
(stiff)
follow me

EXT. SOMNIA NURSING - DAY

Erika follows Gertrud to the front of the infirmary.

GERTRUD (CONT'D)
(grumbling)
Here you will spend most of your
time checking on the kids or
some of us, there are no more
nurses, By the way, take this.

Gertrud hands Erika a card.

GERTRUD (CONT'D)
(stiff)
This is your pass to the
orphanage, some areas are
restricted, if you want access
to them, they require a higher
level in the orphanage, if you
need me I will be in the office.

INT. SOMNIA NURSING - DAY


Gertrud leaves the infirmary heading to the office. Erika
enters the infirmary, arranges and cleans her materials,
then JASON enters, one of the children from the
orphanage, he enters with lost eyes and vision, pale,
haggard and with a bleeding wound on his arm, accompanied
by TERESA.

TERESA
(scared)
Is there someone? Please help?

ERIKA
(scared)
But what happened?

TERESA
(scared)
I don't know... We were in the
dining room, he was eating with
some classmates, but I looked
away for a moment and... and...
and the second he was...

Teresa bursts into tears and stops speaking, Erika grabs


the child and takes him to a stretcher where she checks
him while Teresa is behind her walking from side to side
worried with tears in her eyes, Erika cleans the wound
with alcohol and sews it up. Erika is shocked that
throughout the process Jason did not move or react. She
gives Jason a painkiller, then he falls asleep on the
stretcher, Erika tucks him in with a blanket, and takes a
glass of water to Teresa.

ERIKA
(intrigued)
Are you okay?

TERESA
(calm)
Yeah, thanks, it's going to be
fine, right?

ERIKA
(calmed down)
Yes, he will be fine, but… How
did a child have that injury?

INT. SOMNIA RESTAURANT - DAY (FLASHBACK)

Teresa describes the whole scene.

TERESA (NARRATING)
(sobbing)
As I was saying… We were in the
dining room, and I turned for a
moment to see another table and
when I realized Jason was
sticking a knife in his arm,
over and over again, I don't
understand why he did it, I
tried to take it away but when I
tried to take the knife, he
started to yell at me and pushed
me and kept trying to stab
himself more times, the other
children were very strange too,
some were with cold eyes
watching Jason while others ran
to their rooms... at the end, I
was able to take the knife from
him and I brought him here as
fast as I could.

FADE TO:

INT. SOMNIA NURSING - DAY

Erika looks at Teresa in shock without saying a single


word, when suddenly Jason begins to disrupt on the
stretcher.

JASON
(afraid)
No more! please! I don't want to
go back there! Nope!

Erika scared walks towards him and takes his hand,


looking at Teresa again.

ERIKA
(intrigued)
What is happening to him?

Teresa looks at Erika scared and leaves, Erika stays


taking care of the child a while longer until he wakes
up.

JASON
(confused)
W-Where am I?

ERIKA
(calm)
In the infirmary, do you know
how you got here?
Jason shakes his head saying no.

ERIKA (CONT'D)
(calm)
You were in the dining room and
you took a knife from the table
and you started to hurt your
arm…

Erika sighs.

ERIKA (CONT'D)
(intrigued)
Why you did it? Is something
wrong with you? Do you have
problems with your classmates?
Do the carers do anything to
you? May I help you?

Jason looks at Erika scared to hear " carers ":

JASON
(afraid)
There's nothing you can do, I
feel better already, I think
I'll go.

ERIKA
(confused)
You should stay a little longer
Jason, and rest for the day.

JASON
(scared and rushed)
Excuse me, miss, but I have
class, I can't miss it, you are
very kind, almost all of them
were.

ERIKA
(confused)
Almost all?

Jason leaves the infirmary while Erika looks at him,


while Jason leaves, Erika receives a message on her cell
phone from the superior mother, which said

ERIKA (OFF)
Dear young lady, please come
find me as soon as possible, if
you can't find me in my office
you can ask Gertrud for my
itinerary, I have to go to
class.
INT. SOMNIA OFFICES - DAY

Erika goes looking for the Superior Mother at the


offices, knocks but she is not there, she looks for
Gertrud in her office but she is not there either, then
she sees Teresa coming down from the rooms.

ERIKA
(cheerful)
Teresa! Hi, nice to see you
again, do you know how Jason is?

TERESA
(uncomfortable)
He's a bit better, he should be
in the classroom.

They look at each other awkwardly.

ERIKA
(uncomfortable)
hey… do you know where the
superior mother is? She told me
to ask Gertrud for her itinerary
if she wasn't in her office, but
she isn't either.

TERESA
Everyone's itineraries are up in
the hall from our rooms.

ERIKA
(moved)
WOW! Thank you very much, I'll
be right down.

Erika walks past Teresa but she takes her hand.

TERESA
(worried)
I'll see you in the bathroom of
the infirmary when you finish
talking to the superior mother,
I need to talk to you.

Teresa lets go of Erika and before she can say anything


she leaves the place. Confused, Erika goes upstairs and
manages to see that the superior mother is giving an art
class in building 1, Erika goes out to look for her.

INT. BUILDING 1 SOMNIA ART HALL - DAY


Erika looks out the window and sees the superior mother,
knocks on the door. The superior mother comes out.
