gender based violence basically means causing harm to an individual from a particular gender. it is
extended from gender inequality, unethical norms and believes or stereotypical mindset and the abuse of
power. it is the violation to basic human rights and a serious social problem act like a decease.

in Bangladesh society, gender-based violence takes place almost every day. women and girls are the
biggest victims of gender-based violence. factors that contribute to gender-based violence in Bangladesh
society are:

heavily conservative atmosphere.

dense presence of patriarchal mindset.

absence of moral education especially in young generation.

heavily conservative atmosphere in Bangladesh society refers to the existence of misinterpretation of

religion and practicing inequality for women based on wrong ancient ideology, violation to women's basic
rights, objectification of women and dominating women in every sectors. due to the presence of
conservative atmosphere, many gender based violence takes place on a daily basis in Bangladesh society.
psychological domination process in practiced in Bangladesh society. due to this practice, women are
afraid to take stand from themselves against violence, often lives in fear of losing their dignity for
speaking for themselves when any violence takes place as the society does victim blaming, talking bad
about the victim's character and so on. this whole toxic environment is called heavily conservative
atmosphere.
patriarchal mindset is the tendency of men to dominate, oppress and exploit women in different ways. in
this case, men put themselves in a superior position and abuse their power. a society in which men have
more power than women in many ways. here, the believes is that, men have more than women and men
have some sort of power that women do not have. due to this kind of mind set of the society, women are
lagged behind men in terms of getting better jobs, getting education, getting the portion of land from their
father's side and so on. (Kamla Bhasin, and Indian developmental feminist activist, poet, author and social
scientist believes patriarchy is a social structure in which men are considered to be superior and have
powerful hold over resources, decision making and ideology). Error! Hyperlink reference not valid.

moral education refers to adopting values, virtues and beliefs for which the person will be better human
being and will contribute creating better society. but in Bangladesh, moral education is heavily absent.
basically, moral education teaches us equality, unity, respectful behaviors towards women, abolishing
superstition and so on. it teaches us about consent, tolerance of others opinion, respecting others personal
space and privacy, respecting every gender and treating them equally. but due to absence of moral
education, our society faces gender-based violence.

Solution to abolish heavily conservative atmosphere is to do campaigns and programs at Urban and rural
regions to raise awareness about women's right and cultivating populist support to co-operate with local
and even National and administration to purge outdated laws and values. Some strict laws against
reaching misleading religious values should be made

To abolish patriarchal mindset, it is necessary to diversify gender positions by appointing for institutions
in higher officers. While appointing positions a gender balance should by all the social organizations.
Women themselves should be conscious about their rights and they have to start facing voice even if they
feel a little domination by men. Women have to be educated and self-dependent financially.
If we look deeper into the education system it is noticeable that educational institutions are mainly
focused on providing on the academic knowledge. But there is no proper book to teach students about
ethics, consent, sex education, tolerance of others opinion, equality and so on a subject including all these
teachings of morals must be added to the syllabus mandatorily. the practice of morality must be started
from very early age. Good parenting is also needed to make a better person. It's barely possible to teach
moral to our previous generation as they have the dogmatic mentality on many things. And they are not
able to receive new knowledge as it may hurt their toxic ego. But it is possible to push moral to our young
generation at a very early age. As a result, gender-based violence gradually decrease in our Bangladesh
society.

We empower and suggest that specialists and professionals apply the Social Norms and Beliefs about
GBV Scale in various philanthropic and worldwide LMIC settings and gather equal information on a
scope of GBV results. This will permit us to additionally approve the scale by locating its discoveries
with GBV encounters and execution and evaluate its generalizability across assorted settings.
