1. In your own words define literature and why it is important?

I see literature as a portal that opens every time we make an effort to read and engage
ourselves with it. It brings us into a different world through its distinct genres that have lives
and stories inside. We encounter things that we thought that is impossible to happen. In other
words, literature makes the impossible possible. And with that, there is no doubt that the
works of literature are essential to us considering that it allows us to learn something more
accessibly since literature already offers us various information. The only thing we ought to
do is get the courage and patience to read and comprehend everything.

2. In your own words define and explain Prose.

Prose is one of the classifications of literature, and there are various ways to
determine whether a literary piece is under this type of literature.

The first thing to consider is the structure of the literary piece. It is necessary to
examine the way how the writer wrote the literature. Works of literature under prose are in a
typical paragraph form. In other words, there are no rhythm or patterns in prose. Instead, it
follows grammatical structures. Literary pieces under prose also use ordinary language or
words rather than figurative expression. It intends to provide information and instruction to
convince and make the readers reflect on their actions.

3. In your own words define and explain Poetry.

Poetry is also one of the classifications in the literature and poesis is the Greek word
of it which means "to make or create." However, in contrast to prose, poetry refers to a style
of writing that uses a condensed, lyrical combination of words to express a message, depict a
scene, or tell a tale. Rhyming lines and meter, or the rhythm and emphasis of a line based on
syllabic beats, can be used to build poems. Poems can also be freeform, meaning they don't
follow any conventions.

If the literary works under prose are in a paragraph form, literary pieces under poetry
are in the form of a stanza or verse and uses a type of language that expresses itself more
powerfully than ordinary language. Poetry also aims to stimulate your imagination and create
a vision of how you want your life to be.

4. In your own words define and explain Drama.

Drama is also a category of literature. A drama is a piece of writing intended to

present before an audience. The stories written under this type of writing are in the form of a
script and delivered through lines of characters acted by actors.

Drama has three categories namely, tragedy, comedy, and tragicomedy. It is necessary
to be cautious that drama is the term for the literary text, but changes into a “play” once it is
performed in the theater such as arena, medieval, Elizabeth, proscenium, and theater of
cruelty.
5. In your own words explain “Literature illuminates’ life”.

Literary pieces provide us with various writings affiliated with diverse kinds of stories
and lessons inside them. It is like a cooking manual where assorted dishes, recipes,
ingredients, and procedures are within them. And these help us to enhance the way how we
view life.

Literature illuminates’ life because it helps us grasp various aspects of life. Stories
elicit empathy and give people a new perspective on their own lives and the lives of others.
Literature is a representation of human nature. It includes the means of learning and
connecting with others. We thoroughly immerse ourselves in a different mindset through
reading using the first-person perspective that supports the foundation of our knowledge in
life and gives us the idea of what to do in different situations. It makes our lives more
convenient to live with, and there is no doubt that it is one of the greatest gifts we have.
