ADVOCACY FOR FREEDOM

Why is it important to have freedom?

Freedom is a condition in which people have the opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness
without unnecessary external restrictions. Freedom is important because it leads to enhanced
expressions of creativity and original thought, increased productivity, and an overall high quality of life.

The idea of freedom is complex, and it must be redefined and defended anew by each generation.
Moreover, the value of freedom can only be understood and appreciated by those who have a sense
of the past and a highly developed understanding of human nature. All too often, people who live in
freedom tend to ignore its fragility and take it for granted. Conversely, people who have not been
raised within a long-standing tradition of freedom have trouble understanding and implementing it in
their society.

There is no such thing as absolute freedom, especially within large political jurisdictions such as cities
and countries. All freedom requires compromise between the rights of the individual and the goals and
obligations of the state. As a result, there are many laws, regulations and judicial pronouncements
regarding the ideals of freedom and the details of how it is to be practiced.

Around the world, many countries have adopted carefully written documents to define and protect their
freedoms. In the United States, essential freedoms are guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, a part of the
U.S. Constitution. The most well known rights are the freedoms of religion, speech, the press,
peaceable assembly, and petitioning the government.
Freedom is important because it allows us to be ourselves, and to work together while maintaining
autonomy. Freedom is important because its opposite is detrimental to our well-being and inconsistent
with our nature. Freedom is also condition in which people have the opportunity to speak, act and
pursue happiness without unnecessary external restrictions. Freedom is important because it leads to
enhanced expressions of creativity and original thought, increased productivity, and an overall high
quality of life.

Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right. It also underpins most other rights and allows
them to flourish. The right to speak your mind freely on important issues in society, access information
and hold the powers that be to account, plays a vital role in the healthy development process of any
society.

How do you promote freedom?

 EDUCATE

Invest in strategies to educate people on the First Amendment, academic freedom, and the
importance of creating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable learning environment.

 CREATE A SEMINAR EVENT

Attending a seminar has numerous benefits, including improving communication skills, gaining
expert knowledge, networking with others and renewing motivation and confidence. To those who are
not yet know what is freedom in everyday life, I can create a short discussion about freedom. Tell
them what we need to do in our lives with freedom.
 GIVING FLYERS

the impact of a flyer is to immediately grab the attention of the recipient they are not reading a
book, it's a quick look at what the flyer says, so ensure your flyer design clearly and boldly
displays the salient information.

 3 WAYS TO PROTECT & SUPPORT FREEDOM FOR PEOPLE AROUND

THE WORLD

1. Speak up for what you care about.

Set aside time to finally give that cause that keeps nagging at your heart and reappearing in your life
the attention it deserves. We all have something that we care deeply about, whether because of an
experience we underwent, an encounter we've witnessed, or a story spoken by someone close to us.
Advocacy has a huge impact in communities everywhere.

2. Listen to others' stories.

There's incredible power in listening to someone's story, especially one that is vastly different
from yours. With 7 billion people on one shared planet, the world is full of diverse cultures,
traditions, and ways of living that are interesting to learn about.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 was the first document to state our
shared rights. One important way we can empower survivors and people facing injustices is
by honoring and respecting their stories. Working beside women refugees in our studio, we've
had the pleasure to be a part of their stories.

3. Stand up against discrimination.

Discrimination has a way of creeping up in places we never imagined encountering it. Yet it's
there, and the most important thing each of us can do is say something don't let it slip by. And
when you see someone else stand up, stand with them When we have each other as
support, we are more empowered against injustices in the workplace or in a classroom.
There are more people on this earth who help and uplift others than tear people down with
words or hate. Acting together, we're powerful enough to pave a new path to equality and
fairness.
This is only a start, barely scratching the surface of so amazing efforts to protect and support
human rights you can get involved

QOUTES ABOUT FREEDOM

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too
bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you
open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part
of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices,
but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for
their departure.”

― Stephen King, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption

“Life is too short to waste any amount of time on wondering what other
people think about you. In the first place, if they had better things going
on in their lives, they wouldn't have the time to sit around and talk about
you. What's important to me is not others' opinions of me, but what's
important to me is my opinion of myself.”

― C. JoyBell C.

“Better to die fighting for freedom then be a prisoner all the days of your
life.”
― Bob Marley
