4.3 Inquire parts BOM method:

due to parts BOM is possible modified, Before apply for parts, please inquire the latest parts BOM via
the website so as to ensure the BOM is correct.
Inquire method:
Visit the websitehttps://tcs.huawei.com, login with your account and password.
4.3.1 Inquire BOM information and the corresponding component picture.
1) Select “basic information->parts BOM information->product line->product type->model->unit

code. then you can see all BOM information of this product.

2) Click the part code, the picture of component will pop-up automatically for your reference.
4.3.2 Inquire the corresponding repair level information of parts.

1) select “basic information->parts information, then input the part BOM code or part description, you
can see the corresponding information.

2) Click part code, the system will display the picture of part.

Chapter 5 Software Upgrade

5.1 Preparation

Software update statement:

Upgrade firmware will erase the user information, please ensure the main user information has been
backup. The software upgrade only support to update firmware from low version to higher version, please
check the phone software version before upgrade and make sure the power of battery is more than 50%.
Backup Instruction:
1) Due to the software update will erase user information, please back up the user date in advance.
2) With regards to contact, message and application installed in phone, recommended that you backup
data as follows:
Insert SD card, backup user data with the third-part application in SD card, then restore the data after
software update from SD card.
3) For the data stored in built-in memory such as photo, video, documents etc, please copy these to SD
card with the file manager of phone.

5.2 Check firmware version and obtain the latest version method
5.2.1 Check the firmware version of phone

setting->about phone->build number, you can see the current firmware version of phone.
5.2.2 Obtain the latest firmware method

Step 1: visit the support website of HW http://app.huawei.com/tkb
Login with your account and password.( service partner get your account from HW service manager)
Step 2: select “Support” after login, a web page will pop-up, then input the model and click the
“Search”

Step 3: Select Downloads→select
Then you can see the corresponding latest version, download it.

5.3 SD card upgrade firmware method

5.3.1 Normal upgrade method
1) Format SD card.(format with FAT32)
2) Create the dload folder under the root directory of SD card.
3) Copy the upgrading firmware “update.zip” file into SD card dload directory, this firmware file should
be downloaded from HW official website, if not, please visit HW website to download the latest
version of LUA(please make sure the file name is “update.zip”, otherwise, please modify the name)
,the following picture is for your reference.
3) Insert SD card into phone, power on, Select “Settings About phone System updatesMu

4) The whole upgrading procedure will take around 2 minutes, please ensure battery power is enough and
without any operation during software upgrading. mobile phone will restart automatically after
upgrading procedure finished 30s.
Remark: after software upgraded, please enter setting interface to check the software version is correct.
5.3.2 SD Card Mandatory update( upgrade firmware on power off status)
1) Copy the upgrading firmware “update.zip” file into SD card dload directory, keep pressing “power”
key and volume “up” key as mobile phone power off until below interface appearing.
2) Select “recovery mode” with volume up key , confirm it with volume down key, to enter
the recovery mode.
Select “apply update from external sdcard” with volume download key, then click Power key to
confirm, mobile phone will start the firmware updating procedure, the below picture is for your
reference:

Notice:
Don’t take out SD card and battery during software upgrading.( please ensure battery power is enough)
This firmware update method is not allowed to upgrade firmware between different customized version,
not allowed to upgrade firmware from high version to lower version, not allowed to upgrade firmware
between non-consecutive version.

5.4 USB Upgrade Firmware Method

5.4.1 Necessary tools:

5.4.2 Connect phone to PC with USB

5.4.3 USB Driver Installation

driver package: SP_Drivers_v folder
connect phone to pc with USB cable before install driver。see the below, will show no installed equipment
"MT65xx Preloader"
Select other equipments ->MT65xx Preloader, right click it and select "Updata driver software"
click"Browse"button，select driver folder and driver file path

click"OK"， according to the prompt to install

After install finished, see the below：
5.4.4 Run “SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject”

The tool doesn't need to install, open tool package and then only need double click

“SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.exe” to run it

5.4.5 Configure SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.exe

Select File->Open Download Agent File, pop up the following dialog

select "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin", import the file to "DA file name" bar，see the below：
click "Scatter File" button，select Scatter.txt from software package.

select file"MT6582_Android_scatter.txt"，import the file to "Scatter File" bar，see the below：
auto scan port：click ，plug in battery，press volume down，then connect usb cable，can auto
scan port：


See the above picture, it show that port is scanned successfully，after this port is canned, connect phone
with other ports.
Note: please don't connect multi ports，only can scan a port after finished scanning a port .

5.5 Software upgrade troubleshooting

Chapter 9 Repair Guidance

Before perform repair action as below guidance, in order to exclude the possibility that failure is
caused by environment and function setting problems, recommend to back up the user data and restore the
device to factory setting. During maintenance process, in case that identify the failure is caused by PCDA
and need to replace a new PCBA, the defective PCBA should be implemented high level repair. Ensure the
PCBA cleanly and completely so as to perform high level repair.
9.1 Power Failure

Failure phenomenon: press power key and fail to power on normally
Repair method:
Step 1: Check battery power to exclude battery problem caused power failure.
1（ Check if battery of handset is the original battery, if not, propose to change an original battery to test.
2（ Check if battery is distorted and contact with battery connector properly.
3（ Check if the battery connector of PCBA is rusty or dirty, clean the connector.
4（ Measure the resistance of battery between BSI point and grounded point with multi-meter, normally,
the resistance is 10K, in case the resistance is higher and the voltage between positive and negative is 0,
the battery is damaged, replace a new battery.

repair according to different current.

2) Low current: current is 25MA—80MA, upgrade firmware, in case fail to upgrade firmware, replace a
new PCBA.

3) High current: current >=800MA, disassemble TP,LCD, camera etc, then measure the power on current,
if the current of power on is normal, the fault is caused by these component shot circuit, whereas ,
replace PCBA.

9.2 Phone reboot automatically or freeze in power on process

Failure phenomenon:
1) Press power key, handset restart repeatedly and unable to enter standby interface.
2) Press power key, freezing on power on welcoming interface.
Repair method:
Check power on current, if current is 80mA—350mA, try to upgrade firmware. In case current >500mA,
replace PCBA.

9.3 Phone overheated, Short standby time.

Failure phenomenon: phone over heated and short standby time.
Repair method:
1).Measure the resistance between VBAT and grounded point, if resistance <5K, the failure is caused by
PCBA.
2).Measure the current when phone is power off, normally, the current should be 0mA when phone is
power off, in case current >1mA, please replace PCBA.
3).Restore phone to factory setting, check the current of power on and standby, if it is higher than normal
value, replace PCBA.

9.4 Charging Failure

Failure phenomenon: connect phone to charger of USB cable, no charging progress display, or
though charging progress appearing, battery is unable to be charged.
Repair method:
No charging display: check USB connector and charger, if both charger and USB connector are normal,
replace PCBA.
Have Charging display but can’t be charged: check battery, measure the resistance between BAT_ON point
and Bat_ID point and voltage between positive and negative point, if the resistance is not 10K and voltage
is 0V, replace a new battery. Otherwise , replace PCBA.
Repair tips: connect USB cable to DC power supply directly to monitor the charging current.( red line of
USB cable link to positive of power, black line of USB cable link to positive point of power, set power
voltage output as 5V.) normally, charging current is 450mA-500mA.

9.5 Audio Failure

Failure phenomenon: no call-in ringtone, no media audio, no hands free voice when take on the
phone.
Repair method:
No call-in ringtone: first check the setting of ringtone, if play media and audio is normal, exclude the
possibility of speaker failure. Update firmware to the latest version, if failure is still, replace PCBA.
Play media and no audio sound: upgrade firmware, check if speaker is installed backwards or
speaker is malfunction, if it’s not fixed , replace PCBA.
No hands free sound: if play media and audio is normal, exclude the possibility of speaker fault, upgrade
firmware, if it’s not fixed, replace PCBA.

9.6 No Received Voice

Failure phenomenon: when take phone call, others can hear your voice but no received voice.
Repair method: open the hands free function, if the receiving voice is normal, it’s caused by
receiver, check if the metal elastic piece of receiver is deformed or rusty, replace a new receiver. If exclude
the receiver fault, replace PCBA.

9.7 Earphone Failure

Failure phenomenon:
1) no earphone connected but phone display earphone plugged,
2) plug earphone but no voice in earphone,
3) earphone only one side has sound,
4) take phone call, no send voice.
Repair method: verify if it is original earphone →check if earphone connector and Jack is rusty or
damaged,→upgrade firmware→replace PCBA

9.9 No Signal, Weak Signal

Failure phenomenon: no signal or weak signal indication, unable to take phone call and visit
internet; or drop call during phone talk, visit internet speed is slow.
Repair method: check signal strength of phone via setting(setting→about phone→ status→SIM
stAtus→Signal strength),normally signal strength is -75dBm to -90dBm, No signal is 0dBm,in case
strength >-95dBm, the signal is weak.
check if the antenna on back cover is normal, and the metal contact piece is normal→ upgrade firmware→
replace PCBA.

Failure phenomenon: phone is unable to recognize SD card, and unable to read any data from SD
card.
Repair method: change a new SD card to verify the cause → check SD Card connector

9.12 Camera Failure

Failure phenomenon:: the camera is unable to be launched, photo blurred or inverting when take
photos.
Repair methods: if the camera can not be launched, check if camera is assembled properly→
replace a new camera to confirm whether it’s caused by camera→Inspect whether the connector of camera
was broken→upgrade firmware→ replace the PCBA.

9.13 Display Failure

Failure phenomenon:: Generally display failure is black display, blurred display or missing line
display, mostly it’s caused by LCD fault.
Repair method: replace a new LCD to verify→check connection of LCD→ update the latest
software →replace the PCBA.

9.14 Touch Panel Failure

Failure phenomenon: touch screen but no response or partial malfunction.
Repair method: firstly identify the failure is TP fault or display freezing, if phone is freezing, press
volume key and power key and no any response.
Confirmed touch screen failure, firstly upgrade the software→check connector of TP→replace a new TP→

9.15 Bluetooth , WIFI issues

Failure phenomenon: unable to search Bluetooth or WIFI ,or unable to transfer data .
Repair method:
1.unable to find Bluetooth ,WIFI ,check whether the Bluetooth antenna on back cover was broken or not
fully connect to the shrapnel on main board →upgrade to the latest software→ replace PCBA.

Chapter 10 Function Test

10.1 MMI Test
After maintenance, should inspect phone to ensure all function is normally, MMI test is inspecting
mobile function.

10.2 Voice, data service test

1) UIM and battery installed normally.
2) Press power button to power on phone.
3) Observe the changes of the signal strength in normal network. Normal range is -75dBm~-90dBm
(the nearer to -75dBm the better )
Check method : settings＞about phone > status>signal strength.
4) Take a phone call to test the voice service, need to check whether the voice is clearly.
5) Surf internet via WIFI, WCDMA,GSM data service to check whether can use the data service
normally.

10.3 Charging Test

1) Power on the phone and connect to USB charger.
2) check method : settings >about phone >status> battery status
3) It will prompt charging and the indication bar of charging will appear, the status change to
discharging while pull out he USB cable, the charging icon disappeared.
4) Check whether the battery capacity will increase after 15min charging.
