II. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

i. Number of houses in my community (Sitio Valderama, Ramon Magsaysay,

Aborlan, Palawan)

 There are 75 houses in my community.

ii. To get the population assume 6 people per house based on the number of
houses.

 6 x 75 = 450

iii. Assume linear growth for design period of 20 years. Get the growth rate from
municipal office or based on the previous population census and the latest census.

Positive growth rate considering 2020 census: 2.37%

Total population in 2020 is about 450 persons
Compute population in year 2040:

Pop future = Pop present (1 + gr/30yrs)n

2.37 20
Pop future = 450 (1 + )
30
Pop future = 2058.93

iv. Calculate the forecasted population after 20 years. One of the bases in the
design of water storage/reservoir.

 There will be 2058.93 people after 20 years, assuming 6 people per

household, estimated households will be 343 households.

v. Count all establishments in your community apply linear growth rate and get
their water demand considering the design period. Classified them either;

A. Residential
Estimated water consumption of one (1) person per day is 90.09
liters.

lit lit
P future = 2059 persons x 90.09 day = 185,495.31 day or 185.5 m3
2058.93
Number of households = 6 members = 343 households
Water consumption per households in cubic meter:

185.5 m3 cubic meter

343 households = 0.54 households

B. Commercial

(13 standard toilet) 10liters/flush*40flush = 5,200liters/day

2*100liters/day/seat*13seats = 2,260 liters/day = 2.6 m3/day

Note: Average water consumption of one water refilling station in my community per
day is 10 cubic meters.

C. Industrial (e.g Handicraft)

E. Agricultural (e.g Poultry/Livestock Farms)

Type Number
a. Poultry 2

2 standard toilets, 10liters/flush *100flush = 2,000liters/day = 2 cubic meter

vi. Calculate the total water demand in your community adding all water
consumers to get the design capacity of reservoir and distribution line.
