project w.a.t.c.h.
Our society nowadays has been faced with massive changes and challenges.
These, in turn, have caused a lot of transformation in the framework of learning
institutions in order to adapt to the current needs and context of the communities
where their learning populace live and interact.
As a learning institution, we are mandated not only to attend to our learners’
academic needs but likewise turn them into holistically well-developed individuals as
significant and productive members of the society where they belong.
One of the greatest challenges we are facing now is the drastic change in
human values as characterized by a change in their lifestyles, work/study habits and
social interactions.
Cagasat National High School as a pillar of education and in its commitment
to develop holistic individuals and make an influence and significant effect to the
community, proudly advocates Project WATCH to address the retransformation of
the idea of punctuality and honesty among people in our community.
Guided by the crafted Action Plan and in leadership of the Project WATCH
Club, the institution cascaded this advocacy among its stakeholders through the
social media – the most accessible means of campaigning and disseminating
information in this new normal. Through this platform, activities and projects
spreading the WATCH advocacy are implemented like the “Project E-Kwento” and
“Selfie-Challenge” where learners, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders show
their support and contribute their practice of honesty and punctuality in their daily
lives.
The school also reached out different entities like the Local Government Unit
of Cordon, different barangays, private sectors and organizations and other learning
institutions to distribute flyers in order to further explain the objectives and activities
of the project and to deepen its sense to the people in the community.
In order to strengthen the foundation of the project, this institution also
conducted orientations and trainings among learners, teachers, parents and other
stakeholders.
Initially, Project WATCH was launched last January 2021 through a virtual
program, spearheaded by the coordinator, Mrs. Rosefedita Pastores. It was followed
by a series of virtual orientations with learners and parents on September 27-29,
2021. These orientations aimed to explain the objectives and the activities of the
project and how they can be able to participate and show support to it.
A virtual symposium on Psychological First Aid and Homeroom Guidance was
also held on September 23, 2021. Mrs. Jamie Cloudine Tubiera, Guidance
Counselor of San Agustin National High School and Mrs. Monet Caluya, Cagasat
Guidance Designate discussed ways on how to cope with stress and depressions
brought by the New Normal.
In the aforementioned webinars and virtual orientations, learners and parents
were also oriented regarding the distribution and retrieval of Self – Learning Modules
or Learning Activity Sheets and how they can be able to show their punctuality and
honesty in such occasions.
The school also conducted Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session on October
12, 2021 which aimed to further clarify among teachers the objectives, criteria and
possible Mode of Verifications (MOVs) for each criterion through the comprehensive
lecture of Ms. Krisha Dyane Hoggang, teacher from the Senior High School
Department.
In all the conducted activities, punctuality was highlighted as the earliest birds
were given due recognition and awarded certificates.
In the initialization of Project WATCH, the school organized WATCH Club and
elected its officers via google meet last September 22, 2021. The elected officers,
with Mrs. Rosefedita Pastores as coordinator seated together and crafted the Action
Plan as blueprint of all the activities to be implemented in pursuit of its objectives.
The school prepared the teachers, learners, parents and other stakeholders
about this project through a series of virtual orientations. The project advocacy also
extends to the curriculum and instruction through its integration in the different
learning areas as manifested in the DLL, WLP, COT and WHLP of the teachers.
In order to keep the people in the community abreast of this advocacy, a
regular column in the FB Page of Cagasat Courier, the official school publication,
has been given to pave way to some articles or stories of honesty and punctuality.
The cascading of this project also continues as these values are being
reiterated in the Radio-Based Instruction through 106 FM Radio Station, the official
radio station of Cordon, duly acknowledged and authorized by the Schools Division
office of Isabela.
Different contested activities were also held to further campaign the advocacy
like Tiktok Challenge, Slogan and Poster Making Contest, Jingle Making and spoken
word poetry. Mrs. Evelyn naval, a Grade 9 teacher was also tasked to construct a
WATCH prayer which is now being used in different virtual meetings and classes.
Moreover, the advocacy is being further manifested in class organizations and
programming through the strict compliance to prescribed time allotment in classroom
programs, on time distribution and retrieval of Self-Learning Modules or Learning
Activity Sheets, honest conduct of remediation, enrichment and enhancement
activities to learners as well as in the submission of reports, forms and other
documents among teachers.
Further inculcation of these virtues in different learning assessment to
evaluate teaching-learning progress is ensured as stipulated in the school’s Basic
Education Learning Continuity Plan or the BE-LCP, besides the reiteration of such in
the delivery of technical assistance among teachers, screening of learners,
production of learning resources and in the conduct of In-service Trainings or
webinars.
Changes are inevitable, but let us not make these change our values too – the
values of honesty and punctuality as the key components of progress and
development in the society.
Be counted, be one of us. Be an advocate of honesty and punctuality and
together, let’s make this world a better place to live in.
