Sewage can be treated close to where it is created, a decentralized system (in septic tanks, biofilters
or aerobic treatment systems), or be collected and transported by a network of pipes and pump
stations to a municipal treatment plant, a centralised system (see sewerage and
pipes and infrastructure). Sewage collection and treatment is typically subject to local, state and
federal regulations and standards. Industrial sources of sewage often require specialized treatment
processes (see Industrial wastewater treatment).

What is anaerobic digestion ?

Anaerobic digestion (AD) is the

process by which organic materials
in an enclosed vessel are broken
down by micro-organisms, in the
absence of oxygen Anaerobic
digestion produces biogas
(consisting primarily of methane
and carbon dioxide). AD systems
are also often referred to as "biogas
systems."

ANAEROBIC DIGESTION: MICROBIOLOGY

Anaerobic digestion is characterized by the
occurrence of numerous series-parallel reactions
associated to the metabolisms of a wide range
of microorganisms. Microorganisms transform
complex organic matter into simpler substrates that
may be then fermented by methanogenic
bacteria. Figure 1 summarizes the steps
occurring during the anaerobic digestion process,
including:
- Hydrolysis-acidogenesis.
- Homoacetogenesis-acetogenesis.
- Methanogenesis.

Why must we capt Biogaz ?

• The Biogaz is generated when bacterias make dégradation of organic

matter whithout oxygene. This process is known as anaerobic digestion;
it means in general production of at least 2/3 of Methane (CH4) , the rest
will be Carbone Dioxyde de (CO2).

• 1 tonne de méthane emets in atmosphere 21 tons equivalent in CO 2
