A brief biography of Hazrat Mir Momin Chup of

Hyderabad
2

Hazrat was born in Iran.Hazrat’s name was Mir Momin Hussain,

and his title was Saif Allah. His patronymic name was Shah
Momin Chup. And he was a descendant of Razvi's Sadat
(Arabic: a suffix given to families believed to be descended
from the Islamic prophet, Muhammad). Hazrat was a God-
fearing and holy person who was famous for his miracles. He
was from the Chistia Sufi chain. He was one of the
contemporary people of Hazrat Amin Uddin Ala Chisti of
Bijapur. Upon touring and travelling to many countries, Hazrat
reached Golconda fort from Iran along with 60 fakir people
during the rule period of Sultan Mohammed Qutub Shah (1020–
1035 Hijiri) and he settled down in the locality of Aliabad in
Hyderabad.

Hazrat used to spend most of his time in worship of Allah.
Hazrat was not married and remained single his entire life.He
used to never speak to anyone and was always silent and used to
reply to the needy and poor people with the help of his actions.
As a result, he became well-known and famous as Mir Momin
Chup.
He died on the 11th Safar in the year 1025, which corresponds to
1615 A.D. in Hyderabad, and was buried at the place of his
residence during his life period. His grave is in Aliabad, which
is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Every year,
an Urs, or annual death anniversary, was held, and there was a
special devotion by the kings of the Hyderabad state in the olden
times. At that time, there was a grant of the Urs, or death
anniversary, and there was an arrangement of Nobat
(the Naubat Khana, or Naqqar Khana, is the drum house)

beating of the drum at the five times, but at present there is no

such procedure as in the past. See page 385 of Gulzar Asfia,

volume two.
Location: Hazrat’s shrine is located on the road which goes
from Aliabad to Lal Darwaza on the left side in the very wide
and old cemetery, in a strong area and surrounded by four walls.
And inside, there is the floor of the stones. And its dimensions
are as follows: 14 feet on the north and south sides, and 11 feet
and 9 inches on the east and west sides. On the eastern and
western sides, on the south side, each door is found on each side.
The door on the eastern side is always kept open for the coming
and going of visitors.
Hazrat’s grave is made of mortar permanently, which is found
in good condition. And its dimensions are as follows:
Its length is 7 feet and 5 inches, its width is 4 feet and 3 inches,
and its height is 2 feet.
A wide and strong shrine building is located some distance to
the west of the shrine building. At present, in the building, there
are living people related to the shrine building and the custodian
of the shrine building.
At the first door of the wide cemetery, at some distance from the
shrine, is found the drum house made of earth, which has
already been destroyed, but some of its remnants can still be
found there.
The details of the tablets :In the surround walls at the head side
of the grave of Hazrat, in the writing of Urdu script, it is written
4

‘Al-Hukam Malk Allah (Judgment belongs to God).’ For Darud

Sharif (blessing on the prophet) and some words were broken,
and on some words there was lime paint on them, so for this
reason, this tablet has become unreadable.
2.On the silt of the door in the western wall, which is made of
black marble, and on its face there are written Arabic poetry and
the Islamic creed, and it reads: "I bear witness that there is no
deity but God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the
messenger of God."
3.Regarding the death year of Hazrat, its details are as follows:
4.All historians have mutually confirmed Hazrat’s death year as
1025 Hijiri.
5.All historians have written that Shah Sahab arrived during the
rule period of Sultan Mohammed Qutab Shah of the Golconda
kingdom, 1025–1035 Hijiri.
So, in the above strong historical arguments, it can be said that
Shah Sahab left this mortal world in the year 1025 Hijiri, which
is the correct date of death of Shah Sahab. The matter is that the
poet, upon watching the tablet number 2, the sign picture of an
open hand, and in which there are found 722 letters of the
alphabet, thought it was the year of the death of Shah Sahab. But
from 722, there will be found the name of ‘Ya Mushkil Kusha'.
And this is confirmed by tablet number 3.
