A brief biography of Hazrat Shah Meranji Hussain Chisti
Khudawand Khuda Numa Sahib, Hyderabad.

Hazrat Meeranji Khuda Numa was a famous holy person and a
well-known Sufi person of his time in the Golconda kingdom.
He was one of the officials of the reliable employee who worked
as a reader of the court in the Golconda fort. The Sultan of
Golconda has sent him to Bijapur in the court of Sultan Ibrahim
Adil Shah as his ambassador for his work in Bijapur. When he
had finished that work and was returning back to Golconda, then
he was able to know that it was the weekly day of the coming of
Hazrat Aminuddin Ala from his private room and that many
thousand people were going to see Hazrat Aminuddin Ala at his
place of residence to have a look of his grace there. So, for this
reason, he has found it interesting to see Hazrat Aminuddin Ala
at his place of residence.
In the meeting place, Hazrat Aimuddin Ala asked his disciples
and devotees to look at the stone, and he questioned them,
"What is this stone saying?" But all have become silent and
were not able to reply to questions from their spiritual master on
this matter. Hazrat repeated his question for the second time, but
nobody was able to reply to Hazrat’s question and all were
silent. But Hazrat Meranji proceeded further, and he replied,
"The stone says that Aminuddin Ala has become God and God
has become Aminuddin Ala." When Hazrat Aiminddin Ala
heard this response, he grabbed his hand and led him into his
private room, where he bestowed the grace of pledge and

caliphate on him.And he was given permission to return to
Hyderabad. So he came back to Hyderabad and left the royal job
in the Golconda fort.
He had spent his entire life doing service of the people of
Hyderabad for the favour of his spiritual master’s teaching,
which he had obtained from his spiritual master, Hazrat
Aminuddin Ala in Bijapur.
Books written by Hazrat Meranji Khuda Numa: Hazrat has
written many books about knowledge of God and Saluki in
Hyderabad in the Decani language, and details are as follows:
1.Chakki Nama 2.Irfan in Poetry. 3.Risala Wajudia. 4.Risala
Qabarbia. 5.Sharah Tahmidat Ain al-Qazat Marqubul Qulub

It is said that Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir has sent a message to
him and he has asked him, "Whether you are Khuda Numa."
And then at that time, he said, "Baba, I am not Khudanuma and I
am a Khudnuma (self-conceit) person."
Death: Hazrat left this mortal world on the 18th of Jamadil
Awwal.
He was born in the year 1070 Hijiri, corresponding to 1659
A.D., and he was buried in the locality of Sabzimandi in
Hyderabad. Hazrat's tomb is famous and well known as
Kamaruqi Gumbad. And many thousands of people in
Hyderabad are still benefiting from his favor, which has
continued for many centuries.

3
There was the only son of Hazrat, and his name was Shah Amin
Uddin Ala Thani, who became his successor and custodian upon
his death. Hazrat also has one daughter, who was married to
Hazrat Shah Meranji Husaini Thani.
Location of the tomb: Hazrat’s grave is found in the locality of
Sabzimandi and on the road from Puranapul to Jiyaguda
slaughter house, on the right side of the road, is found his grave
inside the beautiful tomb well known as Kamrugqi Gumbad.
On each side of the tomb, there are four parts, and in each and
every part there is a separate door, and the frames of the doors
are made of black marble stones. And from the door on the north
side, people enter and come out of the tomb. In the tomb, on the
kalas (spire pinnacle), and on the burjs (a small tower on the top
of a large building), there are signs of the crescent.

And inside the area of the tomb, there are 20 feet and 8 inches in
a square area available, and the floor work of the tomb is found
with fine work of the mortar and lime inside of the tomb. In the
first row, there are three graves; in the second row, there are two
graves; and in total, there are five male graves found inside of
the tomb; in the first row, the middle grave belongs to Shah of
Hyderabad.
The grave is made on a permanent basis of fine mortar and lime
work, and as per construction design, the style is very beautiful
and fine as well as strong. And its dimensions are as follows:
2 feet and 11 inches in width and 1.6 feet and 3 inches in
length. And around the grave is found the wooden frame, and
4
there is a good arrangement of the electricity supply in the tomb
of Shah at that time.
Sama Khana and Shrine Building: Across from the tomb, on
the north side, is a large Sama Khana (Sama means
"listening," while dhikr means "remembrance").These
performances often include singing, playing instruments,
dancing, recitation of poetry and prayers, wearing symbolic
attire, and other rituals. (Sama is a particularly popular form of
worship in Sufism.) In which there are five arched types of big
rooms, which were used to perform Sama meetings in the olden
days and which is now occupied by un-concerned persons, and
in which they are living. On the eastern side of the tomb, there is
a shrine building which is small in size and in which poor people
are living nowadays.
In the western direction of the tomb, there is one small mosque.
In the mosque, a stone floor is found, and there is also an
arrangement of water and electricity supply in the mosque. The
door, which is found on the eastern side of the mosque, is
always locked and closed.

Before the small mosque, there was a small strong well there
and before no water supply, water was not available. At that
time, water from this well was used for drinking and other
usages, but now the well has become useless upon water
connection in the mosque.
The main gate of the shrine building in the compound is
located on the western side of the tomb, and Naqar Khana

5
can be found on its upper level. At present, the compound wall
is damaged in many places. So, for this reason, there are many
of the entrances in the shining building area. And now, for this
reason, there is no longer a need for entrance from the main big
gate of the shrine building.
The main gate found always in closed condition and Naqar
Khana is now in the name as it is not used at any time and even
at the time of Urs or annual anniversary ceremonies it is not
used at The condition of the main gate and Naqar khanthe is in
a worst an the broken condition.
The author of the book "Masar Deccan" has mentioned Abdar
Khana (a room to keep drinks and drinking water.): At present,
in the year 1961, its presence is not found as it's broken and
damaged already. Its platform is still available and is turning
into a graveyard; one corpse has already been buried on this
platform, which is found near the western side of the tomb.
Stone-boat: Near the tomb, there is a boat with six
protruding granite stone corners, and its height is 2 feet and
one inch above ground level and diameter is 3 feet and 5
inches. And this boat is a special identification and sign mark of
the Chistia Sufi order. The person whose wishes and desires will
be fulfilled there, then, will prepare rice pudding or other sweet
and put it in the boat, recite Fatiha, and distribute the sweet to
the people present in the mausoleum area.
Tablet: There is one tablet in black marble with engraved
writing in Arabic script, which is available on the wall of Naqar
Khana and on which the writing is as follows:

6
"Qala Salam Alai Ana Madinnatal Alem wa Ali Baba Ha. (1231
Hijiri.)
As the writing of the tablet is chronogram date and from this
date, it is known that the Naqar Khana was built in the year 1231
Hijiri.
Every year on the 18th of Jamid Awwal, the annual Urs death
anniversary is held in an ordinary way at the house of the
custodian Hazrat Noor Wali Sahib, and there will be a garland of
flowers on the grave of the Shaikh of Deccan. And there will not
be any celebration near the shrine building in Jiyaguda in the
Subzimandi area at that time, and these details are added in the
English translation from the following book, which was printed
in the year 1961.
