1. Introduction

The plastic invented in 1862 by Alexander Parkes, has been with us for a while
now, and since then it has been changing and creating more and more plastic.
Let us remember that plastic is synthetic material obtained through polymerization
reactions from petroleum derivatives, even so these are organic, just like wood,
paper or wool.

From the creation of plastic, it began to be consumed more frequently because it

was a total innovation at the time, but as time went by it was realized that it greatly
affects the environment and since then precautionary measures have been taken
to reduce its consumption.

After a while, the use of plastic was controlled, but since the pandemic the use of
plastics has skyrocketed, not only billions of masks, but also gloves, medical waste
and takeaway food packaging. All this directly affecting the environment because
today it is used in a "use and throw away" way.

2. Problematic

The increase in plastic waste is a global problem, which unfortunately has been
further affected by the pandemic, due to the excessive use of medical products that
continue to be used. (UN News, 2021) Until August 2021, around 8.5 million tons
of plastic had been generated, the increase being so much that in some countries
the recycling systems collapsed. (Rodríguez Eva, 2021) If the appropriate
measures are not taken, about 75% of the plastic will end up in the oceans and
landfills and another large percentage of it will end up burned, affecting vulnerable
areas. (UN News,2020)

3. Objetivos (S.M.A.R.T.)

General

1- Specific: The objective is to make a waiting period for public transport in general.
2- Measurable: In total, a stay will be held at the entrance of the Polytechnic
University of Altamira.

3- Achievable: The scope of the project will not have a limit of people.

4- Relevant: To carry out the project we will collect recyclable materials in order to
create an ecological stay that does not harm the environment

5- On time: The compliance objective will be approximately 4 months, with no end

date, it is calculated at the end of August.

Specific

1- Thanks to the implementation of this room, the community will be encouraged to

choose to recycle plastics, or any other object that may have a second use, since
the idea of this room is to promote recycling.

2- Benefit the current and future student community waiting for public transport,
providing them with a space for their comfort as well as a pleasant and safe
environment.

3- In this project there will be significant savings since only plastic bottles and
cement will be used, saving costs in expensive infrastructure, giving way to an
innovative and economical project.

4. Justification

This project will focus on the recycling of plastic, since in recent years its increase
has generated greater pollution, for which we decided to give it a new use and thus
be able to reduce a little the negative impact that it generates. This project will help
the development of recycling, as well as the economy of low-income people, with
which it seeks to apply this same alternative to the construction of houses, fences,
benches, etc. Resulting in constructions with less expense and a new use of plastic
waste.

5. Scope and Limitations

Scope

One of our scopes on the manufacture of our project is to make quality structures
and that at the same time are economical, thus obtaining a greater benefit with less
budget compared to benches made with concrete, metal, etc. materials.

To achieve this, it is necessary that the equipment is prepared with the appropriate
materials for its manufacture, the appropriate materials must be investigated and
selected to facilitate and provide us with good support.

On the other hand, the team must make the population aware of the use of plastic
and the benefits that we can obtain from it, as well as the impact it has if it is not
separated properly.

Limitations

Just as our scope is, we also have limitations when creating our product, such as
the limited budget within our reach, on the other hand, the little or no experience of
civil work or masonry when manufacturing it. Another problem is the political or
institutional issue due to the procedures necessary for its approval.

6. Hypothesis

With the creation of this bank, it is expected that we will help the environment by
increasing and promoting recycling with the use of this alternative, as well as
reducing the environmental impact that plastic generates. On the other hand, this
project can be a support for places that do not have access to decent housing,
being able to use this same strategy for the construction of houses. Considering
the aforementioned points, this alternative will have a good acceptance by society,
which generates a positive impact, both socially and economically.

7. Product definition

The final product is a bench that will have the colors white and blue, the size is
estimated to be 1.80cm long, 60cm thick and 70cm high. This bench is made of
recycled pet bottles, where each of them is filled with sand, which will give it weight
and support. It has a cement coating mixed with sand and water, and a straight
finish with straight corners.
