ACTIVITY NO. 5.

1
Directions: Compare and contrast the statistical concepts below. Limit your explanation
to maximum 50 words each.

1. Population and Sample

Population is a group of all individuals, subjects or objects considered in
the study while the Sample is a representative portion taken from the
population where data is actually taken. Sample is actually proportional to
population, it is main objective is to take statistical reasonings and result
to the population.

2. Parameter and Statistics

Parameter, these are the attributes or properties that are common for every
member in population while Statistics are the attributes or properties that
are common for every member in a sample. They both are the properties
that are common in a concepts.

3. Qualitative and Quantitative Data

Qualitative Data measures of types and may be represented by a name,
symbol, or a number code while a Quantitative Data measures the value or
counts and are expressed as numbers, it may be a data numeric variables.
Both of Qualitative and Quantitative Data collects information that
important and helps a researcher.

4. Discrete and Continuous Variable

A Discrete Variable is a variable whose value is obtain by counting while a
Continuous Variable is a type of variable whose value is obtain by
measuring. Both are under the types of Qualitative and Quantitative
Variable.

ACTIVITY 5.2
Directions: Analyze the situations below and answer the question that follow.

The school principal is interested in identifying which among the three

identified teaching techniques is the more effective basis of students’
performance in a test. He assigned the three teaching techniques to each of the
homogenous Sections 1-3, and the same test was administered. The result of the
test was compared and analyze.

Step 1: Define the problem.

What is the problem?
What can be an effective basis in the three teaching techniques to the
performance of the students in a test?

Step 2. Gather or collect relevant data.

What are the subjects of the study?
The students

What is/are the variable(s)

The three identified teaching techniques and students’ performance in a
test

Step 3. Manager or organize the collected data.

How many the data be organized?
The data can be organized by giving the students the same tests in each
three teaching techniques.

Step 4. Use text, tables, or graphs to present data.

How may the data be presented?
The data will be presented by each three techniques which can be
presented in a pie graph

STUDENTS

Step 5. Analyze, verify and test data

using appropriate statistical tools.
How may the data be analyzed?
The data can 1st Technique 2nd Technique
be analyzed by
comparing the 3rd Technique performance of the
students in each three techniques.
ACTIVITY 5.3
Directions: Analyze the data below. Construct a line graph and a bar graph
with separate scales for male and female on the space provided below. Make a way to
include both male and female data on one graph.

Given the following data of monthly allowance of 20 commerce students studying
