The Benefits of being an athlete

There are many advantages of competing in sports in high school. Teamwork, perseverance,
responsibility, physical endurance, engagement, time management, and personal and emotional wellbeing
are some of the personal characteristics that a high school athlete develops. When an athlete joins an
athletic team, he or she makes a promise to attend all activities and give their all. The student athlete
learns to collaborate and work well with others. To achieve a shared goal, teammates depend on and
encourage one another. By being dependable and responsible, turning up for all workouts, and putting in
his or her best physical and mental effort, a student athlete demonstrates loyalty to teammates.

The development and preservation of mental and physical wellbeing are among the wellness
advantages for student athletes. Drills are performed on a daily basis, and physical energy is used to its
fullest potential for maximum game efficiency. To be physically prepared for competition, the athlete
gains physical strength. Athletics can help you improve mental wellbeing in a number of ways. The
amount of endorphins produced during physical exercise is one example of how mental wellbeing is
improved. When these endorphins are released, the athlete experiences a natural high and feels healthy,
which improves mental health. These endorphins also aid in the treatment of depression and relieve stress.
The flight or fight response is triggered when adrenaline is released as a result of physical exercise, and
when the student athlete's fight response is stimulated, his/her performance is elevated.

In addition to the previously stated advantages, college admissions counselors and coaches see a
well-rounded student athlete that would be a welcome student in higher education when they see a high
school student who has done well both academically and athletically. Students must be enrolled with the
National Collegiate Athletic Association in order to compete in collegiate athletics (NCAA). In order for
student athletes to remain eligible to compete on a roster, the NCAA supports high expectations in college
athletics. Revenues of over $1 billion for the 2016-17 school year. This number simply goes to show the
immense scale of intercollegiate athletics, as well as the huge financial motive behind admissions
officers’ preferences toward student athletes.  (Business Insider, the National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA))

Students have a significant advantage over others in the admissions process: athletes. More and
more, it seems that athletic achievement is the secret to discovering what colleges see as the "ideal fit" for
their institution—a student who can actively engage in their group while taking home trophies and
recognition for the benefit of those concerned. Athletes received an average admissions advantage of 53.0
percent over the “average” applicant as of 1999. This figure was higher than that granted to minority
(20.0 percent) and legacy students (24.0 percent). (2001 book The Game of Life: College Sports and
Educational Values).

Athletes carry a lot of gear so that they can represent their school and sport at all times. T-shirts,
jeans, socks, sweatpants, sweatshirts, backpacks, winter coats, and several pairs of sneakers are
distributed in large quantities. They don't even need to wear their own clothes to school because they have
everything they need. Finally, you are supplied with the best services and are still able to get assistance.
You can use the nicest weight rooms, quiet study facilities packed with tutors ready to assist with
anything you need, and make the spacious locker rooms your second home in addition to the world-class
gyms and fields. You get food occasionally, flights and accommodation are paid for, and you get to
arrange classes first, meaning that you get into the courses you want to take.
