II. PROJECT BACKGROUND/ RATIONALE

The Department of Education (DepEd), in its commitment to ensure that education must continue
amidst the challenges and uncertainties brought by pandemic has changed the preparations of every school
highlighting safe implementation of limited face-to-face instruction supported with the new normal learning
modalities is one of the priorities in the opening of school year. National maintenance week otherwise
known as Brigada Eskwela has also adopt the changes into months of preparations before its opening to
assure that safety and preparedness is ensured in catering the needs of students, parents, and teachers as to
pandemic is concerned.
As the Digos City Division released Division Memorandum no. 174, s. 2022: Strengthening
Partnership through Memorandum of Agreements (MOA/MOU), all schools are required to strengthen their
existing partnership/s and create Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU) in their valuable support to the programs, projects, and activities (PPA) identified by the school.
In connection, Dawis National High School will be launching its program “Brigada sa Eskwela
at Kurikula” which aims to develop the school in terms of preparedness and readiness. Preparedness refers
to the classrooms, facilities, and its premises in general while readiness refers to the school’s preparations
of curriculum and instruction. With this proposal, the school is taking its active part in encouraging internal
and external stakeholders, private and public partners to support “Repair of Material Recovery Facility” as
one of the priorities needed of the school.
Solid waste management program is a school practice which encourage the students to take an
active part of reducing the increasing the problem of waste particularly inside the school premise. This
priority project aims to promote an environment-friendly school and create a waste and trash-free school
developing core values of conservation, responsibility and discipline to students and teachers.
With this reason, the school wished to initiate this project encouraging stakeholders from private
and public partners to support in the provision of materials and in manpower. Unfortunately, due to high
cost of this project, the school alone could not materialize this plan needing every support the school can
get from the community. Accomplishing this project will greatly benefit the teachers, parents, and students
as limited face-to-face classes is already implemented in the school.
