• In this on-line Diagnostics for the Kodak DirectView CR 800 SYSTEM:
– [Button] indicates any button that you press using the Service Diagnostics.
– If the “pointing hand” icon appears when you place the cursor on a [Button], click it to
advance to more information for that [Button].
• The browser-based Diagnostics software is written in Java, uses a TCP/IP Client/Server
model, operates on the Windows NT OPERATING SYSTEM, and provides communication
with the SCAN ENGINE CONTROLLER using socket communications.

[View Collector Profiles] Displays each COLLECTOR PROFILE for each size of
CASSETTE, including:
• Number of steps from “HOME” to “START OF SCAN”
• “OFFSET”: Number of pixels advanced from “START”, before
reading the diagnostic image
• Amplitude: Number of pixels from “OFFSET” to last pixel of the
diagnostic image
• PMT 1-5: Correction value of each PMT for gain adjustment;
For a given PMT, the higher the value, the less the gain. The
maximum value is 4095.
[Scan Calibration] • Completes the calibration of the offset and amplitude of the
GALVO.
Caution • Completes the calibration of the PHOTOMULTIPLIER TUBES
All COVERS must be (PMT).

• Allows calibration of the PLATES exposed at 15 - 25 mR.
• Displays date and time of the last successful calibration.
• Provides the ability to:
Back-up the current calibration files from the SCANNER to
the computer
Restore from the computer backup
Remove the existing calibration
• [Verify Laser Power and Stability] allows the laser to check for
a “ready condition”. In Diagnostics, laser power and stability
are not checked.

Note
Each test displays the status of SENSORS and SWITCHES: X = blocked or actuated.
In the following step, see the corresponding page to study the correct system for checking the
status for each position.
Important
If the error code indicates a DUPLEX CAM malfunction, actuate the DUPLEX CAM.
Important
If the DUPLEX CAM does not move, see CASSETTE HANDLING AY.
2 In the table, for each “Component”, check that the information displayed by the TOUCH
SCREEN matches the “Status”.
3 If the status of a “Component” does not match the “Status” indicated in the table, do the
corresponding “Checkout Procedure”.
Note
• SENSOR: “X” indicates that the User Interface should display an “X” in the field
corresponding to the SENSOR.
• Motion of the left FRONT/MIDDLE ROLLER AY is determined by the status of the
MIDDLE ROLLER SOLENOID L3:
– If the SOLENOID is de-energized, both the left FRONT and MIDDLE ROLLER engage
the CASSETTE. This status is the default.
– If the SOLENOID is energized, only the left FRONT ROLLER AY engages the
CASSETTE.

The POWER SUPPLY PS1 feeds the 3 voltages to components of the CR 800 SYSTEM,
including the BOARDS and the TOUCH SCREEN.
• + 24 V DC: V1; + 12 V DC: V2
• − 24 V DC: V3: Black wire fastens to the + TERMINAL to provide negative voltage.
Important
• Do not disconnect the wires of POWER SUPPLY PS1 from the components of the CR 800
SYSTEM when you measure the voltages of PS1. For correct resistance loading and
current draw, PS1 must have all wires correctly connected to the CR 800 SYSTEM.
• The DC OK LED remains illuminated when the V3− circuit has a short circuit.
