OBJECTIVE 9
Designed, adapted, and implemented teaching strategies that are
responsive to learners with disabilities, giftedness, and talents

PROMPT #1
Context: Clara is often seen restless or unfocused in class. She also has troubles following instructions and skips
activities when left unsupervised.
Action Taken: You had a conference with her parents and found out from them that Clara was diagnosed with a
learning disability.

How will you modify the instructions for Clara to keep her focus on classroom activities? Write your reflections in
this form. Mention in your reflections a specific learning disability that you are familiar with or have researched on.

YOUR REFLECTIONS

Understanding the individual differences, learning style and even the multiple
intelligence of every learner is one of the teacher’s duties and responsibilities to provide proper
intervention and give positive feedback to their parents or guardians. This served as a blueprint
of teacher’s justification of pupil’s progress and development.
In this scenario wherein Clara has been diagnosed with learning disability, teacher should
fully understand and created an individual monitoring plan intended only for Clara. This plan
would likely help her focus on the classroom activities assigned by the teacher. Little by little,
Clara will be motivated to finish her outputs in class without any interruption. Providing her
activities which is suited to her skills and abilities would be the best thing to do so that Clara
would not be having any trouble understanding each lesson and activity. To be more specific, I
will use discovery approach which will provide Clara an opportunity to share her own ideas. Then,
afterwards, I will be using “Show-and-Tell” approach by which I will demonstrate her first the
lesson and asked her again about her own insights. Next, I will simplify my explanation and
discussion of the topics in a manner that she will easily understand the lesson. Lastly, I will
provide independent activity that is suited to her skill and ability.
