healing practices of the indigenous peoples; and
c. create a narrative report on the applicability of the local or
indigenous herbal medicines to the healing practices of your
family
Introduction
This chapter allows you to appreciate the richness of the culture of the seven recognized
Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) in the province of
Bukidnon. These indigenous communities include Bukidnon, Higaunon, Manobo, Matigsalug,
Talaandig, Tigwahanon, and Umayamnon. You are expected to appreciate and to promote their
unique culture by analyzing the meaning of their heritage language, interpreting the meaning
and significance of the cultural artifacts and practices to their culture, and helping them
promote their existing practices related to your field, such as economic/livelihood activities
and financial management practices.

Instructions: Conduct a teleconsultation with expert members of the ICCs/IPs to study their
healing practices for Nursing students, herbal plants used in formulating herbal medicines
for Environmental Science students, and herbal medicine formulation practices for Bio
Technology students (also see Appendix B). To be guided, research and study on the
important conditions in doing interviews with IPs. Provide at least one answer for each
community (35pts.).

Instructions: Choose one herbal plant, herbal medicine, or herbal medicine formulation
practice that you have provided in Activity 6 to write a narrative report. Your narrative
report will describe the applicability of your chosen item (i.e., herbal plant) to the healing
practices of your family. Limit your narrative report to 2-3 pages following the template.
Please be guided with the prompts provided in writing the report and try to satisfy all the
provisions indicated in the rubric (15x2=30pts).
