characteristics that influence one’s moral actions
towards the preservation of the surroundings. ROLE:
You are a famous podcaster in the Philippines with a million of subscribers on Spotify and
YouTube. You plan to invite an advocate of environmental protection in the country.

AUDIENCE:
 Netizens (social media users)

SITUATION:
Being an influential person among social media users, you are talking on air about different
issues that are happening in the country. You are inviting resource speakers on your show
that have expertise on these problems. One of the things that you are deeply passionate
about is the protection of our nature. You want to invite a firm advocate of environmental
protection in the Philippines to talk about the issue. These are the questions that you would
like to raise:
 What are the different environmental issues that we currently face? Can you tell
something about these?
 What could be the underlying causes to these problems?
 Does our culture have a significant influence on these problems? If so, what are these
cultural practices and values, and in what way are they contributary to these issues?
 How will we challenge these cultural practices and values that make negative impacts
on our environment?
 As moral agents, what practices and values should we possess and do to contribute
to the preservation and conservation of nature in the country? How are these possible?
 What is the role of our emotions and rationality to become stewards of God’s creations?
 Will the actions we take today be enough to forestall the direct impacts of these
environmental problems? Or is it too late?
 What should be the ethical standpoint of every Filipino about our environment?

PRODUCT:
AUDIO PODCAST. This is a ten-to-fifteen-minute audio programme that aims to educate
and entertain the intended audience about the importance of our environment, as well as
the role of human beings in its protection. Podcasts are usually hosted by an individual or
individuals who share stories, lead a conversation, or report the news.

STANDARD:
A performance rubric will be given to the learner.
REMINDERS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ACTIVITY

What is a podcast?
“In a little more detail, a podcast is a series of spoken word, audio episodes, all focused on a particular topic or theme. . .”

What are the elements or tips I need to create this podcast?

Here are some tips from Jennay Horn of Podcasting:
1. The Name of Your Podcast
This means stating the name of your podcast in your intro. A strong intro should always state the show’s name to help keep your listeners oriented to what they’re listening to.
2. The Name of the Host(s)
Part of the appeal of podcasts is the almost personal relationship that develops between a show’s hosts and its listeners. This is why another very important element of a strong podcast intro is
introducing yourself, as well as your co-host or guest host if applicable.
3. The Number of the Episode
Knowing what episode’s notes they are looking for will make finding those show notes that much easier, and endear you to your listeners even more!
4. The Title of the Episode
Your title can give clues as to what the episode will be about, or who may be appearing on your episode, and help whet the listener’s appetite for what is to come.
5. The “Who” of Your Podcast
A great podcast intro focuses on “who” your podcast is for, or in other words, your target audience.
6. The “Why” of Your Podcast
So now that your listeners know who the podcast is for (them, obviously!) and you’ve got them on the hook, you need to reel them in with the “why” of your podcast – letting them in on why this is the
podcast for them. This means filling your listeners in on the purpose of your podcast.
7. The “How” of Your Podcast
The “how” of your podcast is that element of your intro that gives your listeners some information or clue as to what happens on the show.
8. The “What” of Your Podcast
The “what” of your podcast will be different for each episode as it should serve to give insight to the content of that specific episode.
9. Your Personal Spin
A personal spin is just a fancy way of saying “be unique”. What will make your intro truly great is creating one that reflects the personality of both you, the host, and your podcast as a show?

How will I do this activity?

1. Choose your own partner (which means this a BY-PAIR ACTIVITY). Should the class have an uneven number of students (e.g., 33), ONLY ONE group of three members (3 is the maximum) is
allowed. Example: the class has 24 students, which means there are 12 pairs (no group); if the class has 33 students, which means there are 15 pairs and only one group.
2. Create a podcast based on the assessment task matrix given to you. Questions are already provided in the matrix. One student will act as the podcaster, while the other one (if pair) or the other
two (if in group) will act as the interviewee/s.
3. Do a research on your answers. Do not simply copy what you have researched; paraphrase and give due credits to the owners.
4. Use English language in your activity.
5. Rehearse or practice before you record yourselves. You may utilize other social media instruments in creating your podcast.
6. The podcast must be ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes in duration only.
7. The filename must be in this format: LAST NAMES_ACTIVITY 4 (example: FERNANDEZ_MANZANO_ACTIVITY 4).
8. Remember: the answers must have the depth to critically analyze and evaluate the questions being asked.
