Definition and Purpose of suggestion

Definition of suggestion
Suggestion is an idea or plan put forward for consideration.

Purpose of suggestion
To ask and give suggestion to someone and give responses to
the suggestion whether accepting or refusing it.
To help someone who needs any suggestion or advice by giving
our personal idea and opinion in our daily life.

• In giving suggestion, there are two conditions /


situations that we have to distinguish is, a situation
which was mediocre and dangerous situation /
emergency.
• To give suggestion in a regular situation, then use the
following formula :

S + Should + Verb1 ( S + ought to + Verb1)

The situation 's bad / dangerous situation in which if
severe , then use the following formula :

S + Had better +Verb1


Description :
S is the subject, the subject can be a noun, pronoun, and
noun phrase
Verb1 is a verb
Should and ought to means " must “

Definition of Offer
• Offer means to give something physical or abstract to
someone, which can be taken as a gift or a trade
• Offer means to give help. It can be taken or refused
• Offer can be in terms of food, money, solutions, friendship,
or a bargain

Example – Suggestion

Mechanic : Good afternoon, Sir.

Car Owner : Hi. I think My car breaks down.

Mechanic : What kind of problem, Sir? Maybe I can help

Car Owner : I’m not really sure. I was driving on highway


and my car suddenly broke down.

Mechanic : I suggest that you call the tow truck. So that we


can repair your car at the repair shop

Car Owner : Of course, thank you very much

CONCLUSION

An offer is different with a suggestion. An offer


is an expression of willingness to do something.
Meanwhile, a suggestion is usually an
expression of an idea for someone else to do
something. We usually use an offer to ask
people if they need something or help. And we
usually use a suggestion to give an advice for
people.
