In daily life, sometimes people need advice, suggestion, to run better life. Some people
give advice or suggestion and others ask for advice. When giving advice or suggestion, there
are some expressions you can use. Here are some expressions of asking for advice or

Grammar Focus

Modal: “should”

Modal “should” is most commonly used to make recommendations or give advice. It


can also be used to express obligation as well as prohibition. To express advice and
prohibition, modal “should” can be used in present, continuous, and perfect tense, but this
time we only discuss about modal “should” in simple present tense. The following are some
explanation about how to use modal “should” in simple present tense to express advice,
suggestion, or prohibition.

C. EXPRESSING PROHIBITION

Have you ever forbid someone to do something or you aren’t allowed to do


something? In everyday life, you may prohibit someone to do something or you may not be
