PEAL PARAGRAPHS 22B

Write one color-coded PEAL paragraph for each of the following questions.

1. To what extent were women better off socially and economically by the end of the 19th century?
 Overall, even though poorer families did need the money from women working during the 19th
century, which was better for their family economically, it caused unfair pay differences between
women and men more importantly created dangerous situations where women could get sexually
assaulted on the job. In the 19th century women were not only expected to work during the day for less
than men but also to care for their children during their hours off. Not only does this create a stressful
environment for the women and their families but also prevents them from getting proper rest and
socially excepted in their lives. Many lower-class families needed the extra money from their women
and children working in the field which can help for them to put food on their table. However, in the
19th century women’s pay was much lower than a man if they got paid at all. Women were constantly
touched and raped by their bosses with nothing to do if they wanted to keep their position at work. This
created a unsafe and toxic environment for the women with no choice but the sit back and let it happen.
Overall, even though some lower-class families needed the money and appreciated the extra
opportunity to put food on the table, women were paid unfairly and sexually abused whilst at work
causing a bad environment for them socially and economically by the end of the 19th century.

2. How far do you agree that Darwinism revolutionized social thought?

 Overall, despite the dissents in religious thoughts, social thought was revolutionized with Darwinism
through changing people’s views on theory whilst also opening their eyes to knowledgeable thoughts
and beliefs. Evolution led to those of religious thoughts to steer away from their religion and more
towards scientific beliefs. The beliefs and life of Darwinism led many people to change their lifestyles
as their thoughts and aspirations changed as well. By creating more thoughts of scientific research, it
interested more in if them would be another evolution or creation to a modern planet. The purpose of all
advancements in the revolution was just to better people in certain aspects and Darwinism certainly
revolutionized socialized thoughts and changes in a person’s overall character. Overall, Darwinism was
the start of revolutionized social thought as he created a more scientific knowledgeable way of living a
changed peoples morals into those of more pristine thoughts and actions.
