Course Description:
The content of this course aims to let the students explore the theories and practice
of speech communication behavior to promote communication competence in
interpersonal, small group, and public speaking situations.

Course Objectives:
At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:

1. To determine the communication process and characteristics of competence;


2. Demonstrate the role of perception in communication;
3. Recognize the power of language and adapt verbal messages appropriately;

Course Title: Study and Thinking Skills

Course Description:
This is a three-hour-per-week course designed to train and develop in the students
the skills of effective study habits, communication in the English language, critical thinking
and reasoning, and socially desirable attitude, as keys to success in college in particular and
in life in general.

Course Objectives:
Generally, at the end of the semester, the student must have developed effective
study habits and skills, English communication skills, critical reading, thinking and writing
skills, and desirable social attitude.
Specifically, the students should:

1. Organize an effective study and time management system.


2. Write good paragraphs and compositions using the English language.
3. Develop effective reading skills by summarizing, analyzing and evaluating the reading
materials.
4. Know and apply effective listening techniques.
5. Think and reason out critically in reading, speaking and writing situations.

Course Title: Introduction to Ball Games / Team Sports


Course Code: P.E. 3
Credit Units: 2 units

Course Description:
This course deals with the study of team or major sports and its
development (Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Baseball and Soccer Football)
Emphasis is placed upon the development of Physical Fitness and Mastery skills as
well as officiating, rules and laws as preparation for actual play activities.

Course Objectives:
Mastery of the concepts/topics of this subject at the end of the semester
of which the student will be able to:

1. Explain the historical background of the games;


2. Identify the different standard facilities and equipment used in the game;
3. Master the scoring system, rules and laws of the game;
4. Familiarize and execute the different basic skills of a particular game;
5. Able to officiate a particular game;
6. Participate actively in the practicum activities and exercises;
7. Show improvement and maintenance of one’s fitness;
8. Enjoy and appreciate the playing events showing teamwork; and
