ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT

I. TITLE OF THE ACTIVITY:
1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
amidst Covid – 19 Pandemic
II. RATIONALE:

Earthquakes strike without warning and life protection through

action must be taken immediately on the first indication of ground
shaking. Unlike other natural or man-made hazards, they occur with
no warning. Schools cannot be closed in advance, nor evacuated.
Earthquake drills must thoroughly instill in the minds of the students
the correct procedures to be followed so that in an emergency there is
no confusion or panic. There will not be time to think through what to
do. Therefore, all earthquake preparedness measure and drills are
important. Their purpose is to help students (and staff) learn how to
REACT immediately and appropriately.
The essential components of earthquake drills are classroom
discussions, demonstrations, and exercises designed to help students
learn and practice WHERE to seek shelter and HOW to protect their
heads and bodies from objects (e.g., debris from ceilings light fixtures,
and shattered glass).
Effective earthquake drills simulate (1) actions to be taken
during an actual earthquake and (2) actions to be taken after the
ground shaking stops. Building evacuation following an earthquake is
imperative due to potential danger of fires or explosions.

III. OBJECTIVES:

1) To test the efficiency and usefulness of the preparedness

response and recovery plans, system and policies developed in
their respective schools in times of Pandemic.
2) To evaluate the effectiveness and contingency plan;
3) To test the online coordination and communication mechanism
during response operation;
