GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

A. Goal

To provide comprehensive response in Minesite Elementary School in the occurrence of any hazard that will ensure the
mitigation and elimination of the adverse impact to the learners, school personnel and properties of the school through formulating
appropriate response mechanism that is well-coordinated, effective and efficient management of available resources. Such
mechanisms shall be designed to protect children’s right to safety and survival, protect children’s right to educational continuity,
strengthened risk reduction and resilience through education.
B. General Objectives

1. To create functional School DRRM Committee


2. To create functional COVID-19 Committee
3. To integrate DRRM in regular school program and activities and in the SIP
4. To plan for educational continuity in the face of COVID-19 Pandemic and other expected hazards
5. To strengthen and capacitate school personnel, learners, parents and other stakeholders through trainings and simulation
exercises/activities throughout school year
6. To conduct Information and Education Campaigns (IECs), family disaster preparedness sessions, and student-led watching and
hazard mapping in the school and its community.
7. To activate contingency plan for reclosing and reopening the school in case of COVID-19 resurgence in the community

Vision
• Create a child friendly and safe learning environment through disaster risk reduction.
• Promote and facilitate disaster management to reduce disaster risks in line with the Department of Education policy and
guidelines in coordination with the Local and National Disaster Risk Reduction Management.

Mission
• Coordinate disaster risk reduction management group at the School, Local and National Levels.
• Raise awareness on disaster risks and their mitigation/prevention at all levels.
• Enhance and strengthen capacities of disaster management group at School.
• Facilitate effective disaster management through development of various guidelines in the Department of Education.
• Facilitating exchange of information, experiences and expertise in disaster risk reduction management.
